Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Denzel Washington (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and randy hedderick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). hedderick is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: check my swag. Denzel Washington has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
hedderick pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Washington shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
hedderick wants to get back to his feet but Washington is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
hedderick has momentary wrist control but Washington slips an elbow through the middle.
hedderick trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Washington has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
hedderick wants to sweep but no luck.
Washington is stalling in the full guard.
Washington will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

hedderick manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Washington throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around hedderick's waist but hedderick gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Washington off to one side.
Washington looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? hedderick is fending him off so far but Washington persists. Nope, hedderick circles away and we're back to standing.

and Washington makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

hedderick is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Washington is keeping busy.
hedderick misses with a punch to the body.
hedderick wants to break the clinch but can't.
hedderick throws an elbow but it's blocked.

hedderick jumps guard but Washington stands there with hedderick around his waist. hedderick gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

hedderick is fighting off a takedown attempt but Washington is just too persistent for him and manages to trip hedderick to the mat. hedderick regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

hedderick pushes Washington off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Washington shoots in for a double leg but hedderick sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

hedderick tries to get back to half guard but can't.
hedderick tries to escape but Washington is in control.
Washington in side control lands a decent elbow.
hedderick tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Washington wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
hedderick prevents Washington from improving position.
hedderick can't do much from the bottom here.
Washington is staying tight to hedderick's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
hedderick tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Washington counters with a takedown into side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!

Washington tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Washington has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
hedderick bucks up and tries to throw Washington off but instead Washington has got his back!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Washington biding his time, controlling hedderick.
hedderick grimaces as he takes a shot to the body.
hedderick tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
hedderick tries to hold on but Washington pushes him away.

Washington has control of hedderick's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and hedderick regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Washington wants to stand but Washington is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.

Washington is working to isolate an arm here. It's a choreographed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Washington extends the arm and hedderick is forced to tap!
