Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Nate Wright (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Harris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nate Wright!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jon Harris!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, David Schapiro and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wright ducks under a wild hook from Harris.
Wright tries to close the distance and clinch but Harris swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Harris fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Wright sprawls well initially but Harris persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Wright is looking to improve his position.

Harris gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Wright fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Harris looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Wright doesn't succeed with the takedown

so Harris counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Wright is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Wright not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Wright thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Wright is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Harris has managed to free his arm - good work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wright sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Harris defending well though.
Wright is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Wright is working for a submission of some sort.
Wright is trying to control the action in half guard but Harris is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Wright throws a strike but Harris avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Harris darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Harris slips a nice elbow through Wright's hands, connecting with Wright's forehead.
Wright is looking to improve his position.

Wright looking for submissions off his back.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Harris is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Wright is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Harris is in close to Wright's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Wright managing to control the position.
Wright wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Harris is now in half guard.
Wright tries to roll over but Harris keeps him under control.
Wright wants to control but Harris is keeping busy and won't allow it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Wright wants to get back to full guard.
Wright trying to control but Harris postures up.
Wright is looking to improve his position.
Wright is working hard here to advance position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Wright swings away with a leg kick that misses.

Harris changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Wright looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Wright is trying to improve his position.
Wright wants to control but Harris postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jon Harris dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Wright tries to clinch there but Harris circles away.
Harris throws out a loose jab but Wright uses good head movement to avoid it.
Wright tries for a takedown but Harris circles away easily
and Harris connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Wright displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
Wright is looking to clinch.

and Harris counters with a takedown into side control.
Wright is looking for a sweep.

Harris stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Harris throws a hook but Wright avoids it easily.
Harris misses with a straight right.
Wright throws a predictable looking body shot
and Harris counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Nate Wright seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wright throws a jab when Harris was well out of range.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wright pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Nice uppercut lands for Wright. That snapped Harris's head back.
Wright buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Harris takes a kick to the side of the head.
Wright shoots and misses

and Harris counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Wright's guard now.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nate Wright. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Wright looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Harris wants to control from the top but Wright keeps moving.
Wright wants to sweep here but Harris controlling him for the moment.
Wright is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Wright wants to hit a switch here but Harris passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Wright there!

A nice elbow there by Harris.
Wright is working to get back to half guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Harris lands a heavy elbow.
Wright wants to control but Harris is having none of it.
Wright is working to get back to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wright tries to hold on but Harris postures up.
Wright is trying to escape the mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jon Harris showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Wright misses with a hook. Harris ducked under it nicely.
Wright changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Wright throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Wright scores with a shot to the body.
Wright with a poor takedown

and Harris counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Wright's guard now.
Wright wants to sweep but no luck.
Wright can't keep his opponent in guard - Harris advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Wright is pressing down on Harris's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Wright controls Harris momentarily but Harris frees himself.
Wright tries to land a sweep but no joy.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Wright is looking for a triangle here but Harris uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Wright tries to bench press Harris off him but Harris keeps the position.
Harris gets to mount! Wright was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Wright is in all sorts of trouble here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Harris controlling from the full mount.
Wright is trying to escape the mount.
Wright regains half guard.
Jon Harris has got the better of the ground game so far.
Wright tries to roll over but Harris keeps him under control.
Wright is trying to maintain the position but Harris is very close to passing his half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Wright is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Harris throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Wright won't allow Harris to pass to mount.
Wright makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Wright.

Wright has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Harris is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Wright.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Wright is trying to get back to half guard.
Wright is trying to control Harris's posture but Harris avoids it.
Nate Wright has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Jon Harris is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Wright strikes from the bottom but Harris takes advantage and advances to full mount!
Wright can't escape the position.
Harris tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jon Harris comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Harris winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
