Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Max Payne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Singletary (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Max Payne has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Max Payne!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Steve Singletary!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Singletary fails with a takedown attempt.
Singletary throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Payne has Singletary pressed against the cage, preventing Singletary from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Singletary tries to circle away but Payne has him pinned against the cage.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Payne slaps away a takedown attempt from Singletary, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Horrible takedown by Payne or perhaps it was just good defense by Singletary which made him look bad.

Payne has Singletary pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Payne pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Singletary tumbling to the mat - Payne dives into Singletary's guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Singletary is on top in guard.

Singletary throws and elbow that misses. Payne uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Singletary's guard. Nice move by Payne!

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Payne wants to control from the top but Singletary keeps moving.

Payne fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Singletary avoids it really well and circles away.

Payne shoots in for a double leg but Singletary sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Max Payne seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
BOOM! Singletary connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Singletary is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Payne can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Payne clinches up against the cage.
Singletary tries for a takedown. No joy.
Singletary is pressed up against the cage. Payne has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Singletary down to the mat. Singletary avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Singletary feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Singletary postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Singletary is fighting to break Payne's control of his arms but Payne is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Singletary stands and steps away. Payne gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
The fight stays on the outside here - Payne looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Payne shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Singletary napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Singletary pushes Payne away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Payne gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Steve Singletary.
I think Singletary has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
