PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Raddick Jenkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Elliott McLean (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jenkins comes to the cage accompanied by ill bill - war is my destiny. McLean has chosen Forever - Drake, Travis Barker Remix as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Raddick Jenkins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Elliott McLean!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Alec Ball and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McLean throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
McLean tries to close the distance and clinch but Jenkins swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Jenkins looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? McLean is fending him off so far but Jenkins persists. Nope, McLean circles away and we're back to standing.

and McLean counters with a good low kick that Jenkins was not able to check.

Jenkins looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Jenkins seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but McLean does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
McLean manages to get to full guard.

McLean working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jenkins doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Jenkins manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Jenkins stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. McLean swivels though and keeps the full guard.
McLean tries to land a sweep but no joy.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
McLean tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Jenkins counters with a good, hard body kick but McLean shrugs it off.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
McLean swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Jenkins wants to clinch.

so Jenkins counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Jenkins is breathing heavily.

McLean has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Jenkins off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

McLean postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Jenkins is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of McLean, into his guard.

McLean is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
McLean is trying to control the position but Jenkins postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
McLean pulls Jenkins in close to his closed guard and prevents Jenkins from doing any damage or advancing position.
McLean wants to get back to his feet but Jenkins is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

McLean has his foot on Jenkins's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Jenkins works his way back into a safe position though.

McLean wriggles free and stands up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Raddick Jenkins will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


McLean throws a head kick but Jenkins moves out of range.
Jenkins shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and McLean counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Jenkins!

Jenkins is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
McLean breaks from Jenkins's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
McLean trying to control but Jenkins is having none of it.
McLean controlling the pace for now.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Jenkins is in a horrible position here. McLean smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
McLean landing punches.
McLean fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

McLean is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Jenkins has managed to escape the submission attempt.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

McLean is working for a guillotine from mount but Jenkins frees his head quite easily.
McLean scoring with strikes but Jenkins is staying in there.
McLean blocks Jenkins's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

McLean is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Jenkins has managed to escape the submission attempt.
McLean takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Elliott McLean showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


McLean gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Jenkins counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps McLean thinking.
Jenkins throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent McLean stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
McLean shoots in for a takedown but Jenkins shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Jenkins.
Jenkins is looking to take a break and control but McLean is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
What's McLean going to do here then? He's in a bit of a pickle.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
McLean manages to get back to half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McLean trying to hold on to Jenkins's head to control him but Jenkins postures up.
McLean moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
McLean wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Despite being in the dominant position, Elliott McLean just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Jenkins tries to keep at a distance but McLean has taken the fight into the clinch.
The referee is keeping an eye on McLean - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
McLean is trying to drag Jenkins to the mat but Jenkins just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Raddick Jenkins has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Elliott McLean.

McLean pulls Jenkins in to control the position.

The fighters are battling for position here. McLean manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Jenkins trying to stand up but can't free himself from McLean's guard.
Jenkins stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. McLean swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

McLean is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Jenkins defends well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
McLean looking to hit a scissor sweep but Jenkins is one step ahead there.
Jenkins has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of McLean is proving hard to escape from.
Jenkins trying to control but McLean is working from the bottom.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Jenkins stops McLean from standing up.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Elliott McLean.
I think McLean has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
