The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fontana slaps away a takedown attempt from mathews, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Fontana clinches up with mathews and pushes him back against the cage.
mathews fails to pull guard.
mathews is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.
Fontana breaks from the clinch.
The fight stays on the outside here - mathews looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Fontana shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Fontana lands a nice shot to the head.
Fontana looking to isolate an arm here. mathews doesn't see it coming and as Fontana extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Fontana!
