PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Doug Stansky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Artsi Lintsi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lintsi has chosen The Pentagram Burns as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Doug Stansky!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Artsi Lintsi!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Ben Zyskovitsi and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stansky shoots for a double leg takedown but Lintsi sprawls well. He's pushed Stansky's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Lintsi shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Stansky is trying to defend but Lintsi finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Lintsi lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Lintsi throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Lintsi lands a nice short elbow.
Lintsi missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Stansky has his hands clasped together around Lintsi's back. He's all about the action.
Stansky wants to control but Lintsi is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Stansky is looking for a sweep. Lintsi is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Horrible takedown by Lintsi or perhaps it was just good defense by Stansky which made him look bad.

The fighters are battling for position here. Stansky manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Lintsi is looking to work some ground and pound but Stansky has wrist control.

Stansky manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Lintsi tries for a takedown but Stansky circles away easily

Lintsi is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Stansky passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Lintsi!

Lintsi is trying to reverse the position but instead Stansky has taken his back - oops!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lintsi will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Lintsi swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

and Stansky counters with a shoot takedown. Lintsi fights it but they end up in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Stansky stands up from Lintsi's guard - Stansky perhaps looking for a knockout.
Stansky shoots in for a takedown but Lintsi shows good takedown defense.

Lintsi bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Who's going to make the next move?
Stansky is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Lintsi has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Lintsi lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Stansky tries to improve position but can't.
Lintsi scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Stansky to see if he's OK.
Stansky is trying to buck Lintsi off.
Stansky takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Lintsi working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Stansky struggling a bit here.
Stansky is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Lintsi connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Stansky some visible discomfort.
Lintsi creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Stansky is trying to control Lintsi's posture but Lintsi avoids it.

Stansky is looking to reverse the position.
Stansky can't do much from the bottom here.

Stansky is working to avoid the ground and pound but Lintsi connects with a decent elbow.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Lintsi shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Stansky pushes Lintsi off and gets back to his feet.
Stansky will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Lintsi changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Stansky looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Stansky can't do much from the bottom here.

Stansky sneaks back into half guard.
Stansky is looking to escape.
Stansky avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Lintsi.

Lintsi takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Lintsi not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Stansky trying to control from the bottom.
Stansky tries to get to full guard but Lintsi has control of the leg.
Stansky is staying active underneath Lintsi, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

A close second round but Artsi Lintsi will probably get the nod - 10:9.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


A nice leg kick lands there from Stansky.
Lintsi tries to bum rush Stansky with a series of wild strikes but Stansky uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Lintsi misses with a double jab.

Stansky shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Lintsi napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Lintsi is looking for a sweep.
Stansky throws an elbow but Lintsi slips to the side and avoids it well.
Lintsi is looking to reverse the position.

Stansky tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Stansky has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Lintsi is trying to improve his position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Stansky happy to just control the position for now.

Lintsi tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The referee asks Stansky politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Stansky prefers to stall for the moment though.
Lintsi is trying to get back to half guard.
Stansky trying to control the position but Lintsi is working away.
Lintsi tries to buck Stansky off but Stansky is having none of it.
Stansky remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Lintsi avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Stansky.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Stansky is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Lintsi will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Lintsi sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Lintsi is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Stansky is pressing down on Lintsi's thigh, looking to free his foot. Lintsi is holding on for now.

Stansky tries to stand and escape but Lintsi is controlling the position.

Lintsi looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Stansky wants to free his trapped foot but Lintsi is holding on for dear life with his legs.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Lintsi fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Stansky avoids it really well and circles away.

Stansky closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Stansky lands in his opponent's guard.

Stansky got a little sloppy there for a moment and Lintsi has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Stansky has managed to get both his arms back between Lintsi's legs - danger averted.

Stansky pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Lintsi is keeping the position for now.

Lintsi escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Stansky gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Lintsi is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Stansky cracks Lintsi with a solid left hand.

Doug Stansky showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Stansky has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
