PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Bruce Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeff Curran (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Davis comes to the ring accompanied by Era. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 1 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Bruce Davis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jeff Curran!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Daniel Blasius and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davis looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Davis scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Curran is looking to reverse the position.
Curran tries to escape but Davis is in control.

Davis tries for a kimura but Curran is defending well.
Curran is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Curran is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Davis has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Davis shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Davis showed some decent athleticism there.
Davis tries to stand and escape but Curran is controlling the position.
Davis prevents Curran from standing back up.

Curran is looking for a sweep. Davis is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Davis is working for a kimura but Curran is defending it quite comfortably.
Davis is breathing heavily.
Curran is not content to let Davis control the position.
Curran is trying to stand.
Curran is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Curran doesn't succeed with the takedown

so Davis counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Davis stopping the sweep attempt from Curran.
Curran manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Davis manages to get himself to full guard.

Davis keeping moving, preventing Curran from controlling successfully.
Curran trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Davis is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Davis wriggles free and stands up.
Davis gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Curran counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Davis!
Curran takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Davis is working to get back to half guard.

Curran wants to control the pace but Davis is squirming around nicely.
Davis keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Davis wants to use the ropes to get back to his feet here.

Davis tries to lock up and control but Curran gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Curran controlling from mount.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Curran trying to control but Davis is having none of it.
Davis is in a horrible position here. Curran smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Curran controlling the pace for now.

Davis is trying to stand.
Davis tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Davis wants to get back to his feet.
Davis is looking to get to half guard.
Curran controlling from the full mount.
Let's hope that Curran has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Davis tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Davis tries to lock up and control but Curran gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Curran controlling the position easily from mount.

That's nine minutes gone in the round.
Davis wants to try and get back to his feet.
Davis is looking to get to half guard.
Curran controlling his opponent.
Davis is looking to improve his position but Curran isn't that keen on the idea.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Bruce Davis.
I think Davis has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
