Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Billy Visa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gegard Mousasi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mousasi has chosen ZERO ONNNNNEEEEEEEEE as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Billy Visa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gegard Mousasi!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Tiny Johnson and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Visa fails with the takedown.
Mousasi fails with the takedown

and Visa counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Mousasi is looking to escape.

Visa is looking for a kimura here.
Still in half guard, Visa seems content to control.
Mousasi is staying active underneath Visa, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Visa stops Mousasi from getting back to his feet.
Visa trying to control the action but Mousasi is working from the bottom.

Visa is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Mousasi sees it coming and defends easily.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Mousasi bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Mousasi throws a combination that misses

and Visa counters with a nice double leg into side control. Mousasi won't be happy with that.
Visa postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Visa wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Mousasi, who protects the arm well.

Mousasi bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Mousasi shoots and misses

and Visa counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Visa postures up in Mousasi's guard and throws a big left but Mousasi blocks it.
Visa wants to control from the top but Mousasi keeps moving.

Visa has gone for a leg lock! Mousasi slips out almost immediately though and dives into Visa's guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Mousasi stands up over Visa, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Mousasi tries to free his leg and advance position but Visa is retaining full guard.
Visa working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Mousasi.
Mousasi is pushing down on Visa's leg trying to pass to half guard. Visa is fighting to maintain full guard but Mousasi has managed to sneak the leg through.
Mousasi thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Visa to regain full guard.
Mousasi scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Visa working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Mousasi.
Mousasi trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Billy Visa dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Mousasi tries to clinch up but Visa circles away and keeps his distance.
Mousasi takes a swing at Visa's ribcage but misses.
Mousasi misses the shot to the body.
Visa gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Mousasi counters with a nice uppercut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mousasi shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Visa counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Visa throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Visa seems to be working for a kimura but Mousasi defends the submission attempt.

Visa trying to work for an americana but Mousasi has managed to regain full guard.
Visa wants to control from the top but Mousasi keeps moving.
Visa is looking to work some ground and pound but Mousasi has wrist control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Visa drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Mousasi manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Visa has Mousasi in his guard.
Mousasi working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Mousasi passes Visa's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Mousasi throws a strike but Visa avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mousasi trying to control the position from guard on top but Visa is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Mousasi must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Mousasi lands a couple of elbows.
Mousasi loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Mousasi forces his way into half guard.
Visa blocking the ground and pound attempt from Mousasi.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Mousasi thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Visa to regain full guard.
Mousasi postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Mousasi loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Mousasi throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Visa looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Mousasi makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gegard Mousasi showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Mousasi swings and misses with a hook to the body.
The fight stays on the outside here - Mousasi looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Visa takes a body punch but keeps moving.

Mousasi feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Mousasi throws a sloppy strike and Visa has hooked up an armbar on the loose arm! He's turned and extended fully! Mousasi is forced to tap! Great BJJ from Visa!
