PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tommy Callahan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lion Gordon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Callahan kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Get the Funk Out Ma Face. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Tommy Callahan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Lion Gordon!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Nard Betker and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gordon misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Callahan avoids the head kick by Gordon.
Gordon throws a jab when Callahan was well out of range.
Gordon wants to slow Callahan down by chopping away at his legs.
Gordon chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Callahan shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Gordon sprawls well. Gordon wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Callahan gets slowly back to his feet.

Callahan bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Callahan trying to control the position but Gordon is working away.
Callahan throws a strike aimed at the side of Gordon's head but Gordon avoids it well.
Callahan tries to score with some ground and pound. Gordon controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Callahan prevents Gordon from improving his position.
Callahan is trying to control the action in half guard but Gordon is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Callahan is really struggling to control Gordon but he's trying to hold on to the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gordon tries to roll over but Callahan keeps him under control.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Gordon tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Callahan tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gordon swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Callahan shoots in but Gordon avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Gordon misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Gordon.
Callahan manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Callahan blocking the ground and pound attempt from Gordon.
Callahan has hold of Gordon's hands but Gordon slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Gordon wants to pass to mount but Callahan is defending the position.

Gordon is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Callahan on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Nice strikes from Gordon there.
Gordon passes the guard and advances to mount!
Callahan is looking to improve his position but Gordon isn't that keen on the idea.

Callahan is desperately trying to improve his position but Gordon has a good base and remains in mount.

Callahan tries to hold on but Gordon postures up.
Gordon has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Gordon pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Callahan bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Gordon is looking for a triangle but Callahan pushes his legs off easily.

Gordon lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Callahan!

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Gordon prevents Callahan from getting the reversal.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Gordon throws a nice looking combination but Callahan bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Callahan shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Gordon pinned against the cage. Gordon gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Callahan doesn't manage to clinch there - Gordon circles away.
Gordon has his takedown stuffed

and Callahan counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Callahan.
Lion Gordon has got the better of the ground game so far.
Callahan wants to control from the top but Gordon keeps moving.
Gordon controls Callahan momentarily but Callahan frees himself.

Callahan stopping the sweep attempt from Gordon.
Callahan stays in close to Gordon's body and controls the position.
Gordon is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Callahan wants to control from the top but Gordon keeps moving.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Gordon is trying to control Callahan's posture but Callahan avoids it.

Gordon takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Callahan is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Gordon is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Callahan fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Gordon manages to work his way to half guard, despite Callahan's best efforts.

Gordon kicks off Callahan and gets to his feet.
Gordon works the jab nicely.
Gordon lunges at Callahan with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Callahan's hand.

Lion Gordon showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!



Gordon closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Callahan did well to prevent Gordon getting side control.
Callahan makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Callahan.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Gordon accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Gordon working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Callahan's head.
Callahan pulls Gordon in close to prevent any damage.
Gordon wants to control from the top but Callahan keeps moving.
Gordon throws a big right hand that misses.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

and Gordon counters with a straight right hand.

Gordon is trying to trip Callahan. He has hold of a leg but Callahan is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Gordon persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Callahan is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Gordon is controlling him.

Gordon wants to lay and pray for a moment but Callahan keeps working.

Lion Gordon comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Gordon has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
