PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between jimmy stuhr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Cage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, jimmy stuhr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Johnny Cage!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Cecil Peabody and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
stuhr misses with a hook. Cage ducked under it nicely.
No luck with that takedown attempt from stuhr.
Cage throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

Cage fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with stuhr, pushing him back against the cage.

Cage has stuhr pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Cage pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending stuhr tumbling to the mat - Cage dives into stuhr's guard.
Cage slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Cage slows the pace down.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Cage is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, stuhr has escaped the position, nice work there.
stuhr knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Cage on the ground.

Cage tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Cage has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

That's one minute gone in the round.
You can see the frustration on stuhr's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Cage happy to just control the position for now.
Cage landing strikes.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
stuhr being controlled for a moment.
stuhr striking from the bottom but nothing landed.
Cage taking a breather here.

Cage stands up and we're back to a striking position.
stuhr fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Cage avoids it really well and circles away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cage throws a nice head kick!
stuhr will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
stuhr closes the distance and lands a one-two.

Cage pushes stuhr up against the cage in a clinch.

Cage drags the fight down to the ground.
stuhr trying to control the position from guard on top but Cage is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
stuhr is fighting to break Cage's control of his arms but Cage is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
stuhr looking to pass the guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Cage manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Cage looks gassed!
Cage tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Cage's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
stuhr wants to hold on but Cage pushes him away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Johnny Cage dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


stuhr throws a lazy head kick

and Cage counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Cage with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Cage not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Cage stands up from stuhr's guard - Cage perhaps looking for a knockout.
Cage is breathing heavily.
stuhr throws a body kick the misses
and Cage counters with a one-two to the body.

Cage has taken the fight to the clinch.

Cage breaks from the clinch.
stuhr darts in trying to clinch

and Cage counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for stuhr!
stuhr tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Cage tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Cage is looking to work his way around to stuhr's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Cage working stuhr over with strikes here.
stuhr is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
A nice elbow there by Cage.
Cage controlling his opponent.
stuhr can't escape the position.

Cage is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Cage!
