PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Steve Green (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Backalley Brawler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Steve Green!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Backalley Brawler!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Alyssa Summers and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Brawler scores with a takedown into Green's guard.

Green is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Brawler's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Brawler's back!

Brawler is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Brawler swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Green is now in Brawler's guard. A big mistake from Brawler there, giving up the dominant position!

Green thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Brawler is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Brawler wants to hit a switch here but Green passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Brawler there!
Brawler is squirming around, avoiding Green's attempts to control the action.

Brawler is trying to reverse the position but instead Green has taken his back - oops!

Brawler stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Green swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Brawler avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Green utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Green is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Brawler uses his free foot to push down on Green's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Green.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Brawler is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Green can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Green knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Brawler on the ground.
Green is trying desperately to improve position.

Green is staying active underneath Brawler, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Brawler has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
The referee warns Green that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Brawler breaks from Green's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Brawler is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Green is just riding it out for now. Brawler eventually gives up the hold.
The fighters are battling for position here. Green manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Brawler looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Green with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Brawler accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Green is looking for a triangle but Brawler pushes his legs off easily.
Brawler is pushing down on Green's leg trying to pass to half guard. Green is fighting to maintain full guard but Brawler has managed to sneak the leg through.
Brawler slips a nice elbow through Green's hands, connecting with Green's forehead.

Backalley Brawler showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Brawler shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Green pinned against the cage. Green gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Green has his foot on Brawler's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Brawler works his way back into a safe position though.

Brawler manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Brawler has isolated one of Green's arms. Green looking to fight him off but Brawler twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:24 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Backalley Brawler!
