Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Paul Wilson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Greg Liller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Paul Wilson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Greg Liller!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Illya Tyunina and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Liller is looking to score with low kicks.

Wilson shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Liller's guard.
Liller keeping moving, preventing Wilson from controlling successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wilson slips nicely into half guard.
Liller is trying to stand.

Wilson is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Liller doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Wilson.
Liller is trying to stand up here but Wilson is controlling him well.

Wilson stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Liller to get to his feet.

Wilson darts in and clinches Liller up against the cage.
Liller is pressed up against the cage. Wilson has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Liller down to the mat. Liller avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Wilson prevents Liller from getting back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Wilson decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Liller throws a leg kick that misses.
Liller throws a low kick but Wilson avoids it.
Liller tries to bum rush Wilson with a series of wild strikes but Wilson uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Liller throws a sloppy head kick and Wilson moves out of range easily.

A punch combination from Liller misses.

Wilson feints and as Liller raises his hands in defense, Wilson changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Wilson not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Wilson stands and steps away. Liller gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Wilson is breathing heavily.

Wilson closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Liller to the mat! Liller manages to get full guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Liller is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Liller wants to get back to his feet but Wilson is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Liller moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Liller clobbers Wilson with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Liller throws a right hand that Wilson ducks under and follows up with a left that Wilson also avoids with ease.
Paul Wilson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Wilson throws a head kick but Liller moves out of range.

Wilson fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Liller, pushing him back against the cage.
Liller tries to break free but Wilson pushes him back against the cage.
Wilson tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Liller just stands there and leans against the cage.
Wilson lands a body shot in the clinch.
Liller is trying to break the clinch but Wilson is controlling him.
Wilson keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Liller's efforts to push away.
Wilson keeps control of Liller as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Liller wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Wilson has him pressed against the cage.
A frustrated look appears on Liller's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Wilson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Liller fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Wilson takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Liller throws a head kick that misses.
Wilson misses with a few strikes there.

Liller misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Liller lands a jab-cross combination.

Wilson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Liller goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
A nice combination there by Liller.
Liller throws a nice looking combination but Wilson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Liller looks to land a body kick but Wilson moved away.
Liller swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Wilson counters with a nice double leg into side control. Liller won't be happy with that.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Liller wants to get back to his feet but Wilson drags him back down.
Paul Wilson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Liller is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Wilson is looking to take a break and control but Liller is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Liller is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Liller gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Wilson to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Liller wants to stand and escape but Wilson is having none of it.
Wilson is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Wilson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Wilson is standing up over Liller. Liller looks to escape but Wilson dives into side control.

Greg Liller has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Liller sneaks out the side door and pushes Wilson away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
No joy there for Liller, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

and Wilson counters with a takedown into side control.

Liller is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Wilson asserts his dominance and retains side control.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Liller can do anything to dispel that myth.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Liller is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Liller fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Wilson manages to avoid it.
Liller throws a leg kick that is checked

and Wilson counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Wilson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Liller has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Wilson has managed to get both his arms back between Liller's legs - danger averted.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Wilson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
