The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Express shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Penni sprawls well. Penni wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Express gets slowly back to his feet.
Penni looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Express dives in and grabs Penni's left leg, looking for a takedown. Penni pushes down on Express's head and hops out.
Penni throws a good cross that connects.
Good standup being displayed there by Penni as he connects with a hook.
Express ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Penni closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Express is trying to maintain the position but Penni is very close to passing his half guard.
Express makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Express.
Express is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Express might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Penni kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Express looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Penni is defending well. Express quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Penni has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Express celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
