Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Steve Areeno!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sparky Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Robert Douchet and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson fails to land with a series of punches.
Jackson throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Areeno throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Jackson was covering up waiting for the punch and Areeno finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Jackson wants to stand but Areeno is controlling the position.
Areeno trying to control the position from guard on top but Jackson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Jackson is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Areeno is controlling him.

Areeno works a leg free and moves into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jackson pushes Areeno off looking to stand but Areeno dives back in and keeps control.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Jackson misses the shot to the body.
Areeno avoids the body shot from Jackson.
Areeno fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Some wild striking there from Jackson.

so Areeno counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Areeno trying to control the position from guard on top but Jackson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Areeno pushes down on Jackson's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Areeno throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Areeno wants to take a breather but Jackson is having none of it.

Areeno is looking for a kimura here.
Areeno is looking to take a break and control but Jackson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Jackson looks like he's trying to stand up.
Areeno is keen to just control but Jackson is a slippery customer.
Areeno stops Jackson from getting back to his feet.
Areeno passes the guard and advances to mount!
Areeno pushing the pace here, looking to move to his opponents back and work for a finish.

Areeno sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Areeno looking for a guillotine from mount but Jackson is having none of it.
You get the feeling that Jackson really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Areeno looking to control but Jackson is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Areeno won't let Jackson get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
Areeno trying to control but Jackson is having none of it.
Jackson wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Areeno.
Areeno controlling the pace for now.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Areeno can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Jackson is looking to escape.
Areeno throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Areeno working for a guillotine from mount but Jackson is in no mood to give up.
Jackson wants to get back to his feet.

Areeno working for a submission but Jackson is keeping him at bay.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Steve Areeno dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Areeno lands with a nice combination. Jackson backs away looking to recover.
Jackson misses with a hook to the body
and Areeno counters with a straight right hand.
A lazy left from Jackson finds it's target.
Jackson cracks Areeno with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Jackson throws a series of punches but Areeno avoids them all with ease.
Areeno shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Jackson defends it nicely.
Areeno ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Jackson throws a body punch but Areeno moves out of range.
Jackson takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Areeno is trying hard to land a takedown here. Jackson sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Areeno takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Jackson tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Areeno was well out of range. Poor timing from Jackson.

Jackson showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Areeno.
Areeno with a jab.
Areeno moves out of range as Jackson strikes.
Jackson falls off balance throwing a combination

and Areeno counters with a nice double leg into guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jackson can do anything to dispel that myth.
Areeno missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Areeno pushes down on Jackson's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Jackson tries to kick Areeno off but Areeno keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Jackson pushes Areeno off, looking to escape but Areeno dives into side control. He's locked up a kimura now - that was fast! He's cranking on it and Jackson is forced to tap! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:02 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Steve Areeno!
