PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Bugoy Torero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rin Sadako (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rin Sadako will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Bugoy Torero!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rin Sadako!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Torero is looking to clinch but Sadako is avoiding it.
Torero tries to clinch up but Sadako circles away and keeps his distance.
Sadako shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Torero pinned against the cage. Torero gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Sadako shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Sadako showed some decent athleticism there.
Sadako tries to stand and escape but Torero actually recovers to full guard.
Sadako wanted to stand there but Torero had control of the position.

Sadako stands up from Torero's guard - Sadako perhaps looking for a knockout.
Sadako throws a body kick that misses.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Torero instigates a clinch.

Torero lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Torero looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Torero has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Torero seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Sadako for as long as he can get away with.
Torero is breathing heavily.
Torero wants to pass the guard but Sadako is defending well.
Sadako keeping control of the position.
Sadako is refusing to be controlled, as Torero sits in half guard.
Sadako is trying to stand up here but Torero is controlling him well.
Sadako is trying to control but can't.
Sadako wants to get back to his feet.
Torero prevents Sadako from improving his position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Sadako shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Torero defends it nicely.

Torero drives through with a takedown into guard.
Torero wants to pass the guard but Sadako is keeping the position.
Torero controlling from the top position.
Sadako trying to control the position.
Torero trying to control the position from guard on top but Sadako is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Torero slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Torero wants to control from the top but Sadako keeps moving.
Sadako has control of Torero's left arm, preventing Torero from doing any damage.
Torero's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Sadako wants to stand but Torero is controlling the position.
Torero postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Sadako throws a head kick but Torero moves out of range.
Torero fails with an attempt to clinch.
A telegraphed right hand from Sadako misses the target.
Sadako tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Torero doesn't manage to clinch there - Sadako circles away.
Torero takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Torero gets the takedown into side control.
Torero trying to control the action but Sadako is working from the bottom.
You can see the frustration on Sadako's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Torero in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Sadako is trying to control Torero's posture but Torero avoids it.
Sadako being controlled for a moment.
Sadako regains half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Sadako is trying to maintain the position but Torero is very close to passing his half guard.
Torero is looking to take a break and control but Sadako is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Sadako wants to control but Torero is keeping busy.
Torero prevents Sadako from standing back up.
Sadako is refusing to be controlled, as Torero sits in half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Sadako looks to land a body kick but Torero moved away.
Sadako misses with a jab, cross combination.
Sadako lands with an overhand left.
Torero avoids the head kick by Sadako.
Torero uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Sadako.
Sadako lands a two punch combo.
Bugoy Torero is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Torero has managed to clinch.
Torero looking for a takedown.
Sadako has Torero pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Torero manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Torero gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Sadako is positioning himself well to prevent Torero advancing to mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Torero controlling the pace.
Torero is looking to take a break and control but Sadako is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Torero is just content to waste time from the top position. Sadako takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Sadako bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Torero's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bugoy Torero dominated that second round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Sadako goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Sadako throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Torero doesn't manage to clinch there - Sadako circles away.
Torero tries to clinch up but Sadako circles away and keeps his distance.
Torero takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Torero tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Sadako paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Sadako ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Sadako misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Torero clinches.
Torero tries for a takedown but Sadako manages to get underhooks.
Sadako works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Sadako breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Sadako throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Sadako doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Torero counters with a takedown into side control.
Bugoy Torero overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

That's one minute gone in the round.
An elbow from Torero crashes against the mat.
Torero landing strikes.
Torero tries to score with some ground and pound. Sadako controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Torero happy to just control the position for now.
Torero prevents Sadako from escaping the position.
Sadako seems a little lost for a moment, as Torero dominates the positioning.
Torero trying to control the action but Sadako is working from the bottom.
Torero is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Sadako's shoulder. That is not cool.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Torero prevents Sadako from escaping the position.
Sadako struggling a bit here.
Torero happy to just control the position for now.
Sadako is trying to get back to half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sadako takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Sadako regains half guard, as Torero was trying to land strikes.
Torero works his way into full mount!
Bugoy Torero is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Sadako is trying desperately to improve position.
Rin Sadako has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Torero takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Torero tries to control but Sadako wriggling away.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Bugoy Torero just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

Sadako clinches with his opponent.
Sadako is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Torero pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Sadako's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Torero.
Torero controlling the position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Bugoy Torero showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Torero, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
