Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jordan Pippen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andrew Stevenson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stevenson has chosen "Sandstorm" - Darude as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jordan Pippen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Andrew Stevenson!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Damien Edna and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pippen uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Pippen tries to clinch but Stevenson is having none of it.
Stevenson shoots in for a double leg but Pippen sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Pippen lands a slapping body shot.
Stevenson throws a head kick but Pippen moves out of range.
Pippen connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Pippen misses the shot to the body.
Pippen looks to land a combination. Stevenson sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Stevenson shoots for a takedown but Pippen saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Stevenson lands with a thumping leg kick.
Stevenson avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Pippen fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Stevenson manages to avoid it.
Stevenson has a takedown stuffed.
Jordan Pippen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andrew Stevenson.

Stevenson tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Pippen smiles and moves away.
Pippen wants to clinch but Stevenson slips to the side

and Stevenson counters with a shoot takedown. Pippen fights it but they end up in guard.

Stevenson drops back looking for a leg! Pippen is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Pippen manages to kick Stevenson off! Stevenson jumps back into Pippen's guard.

Stevenson drops back, looking for a kneebar! Pippen looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Pippen looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Pippen!

Pippen wants to control but Stevenson is keeping him busy.
Pippen laying and praying for a moment but Stevenson takes advantage and regains half guard.

Stevenson wants to get back to full guard but Pippen has mounted him!
Stevenson tries to reverse the position but Pippen maintains control.
Pippen throws a sloppy strike and Stevenson uses the opportunity to reverse the position! A bit of a scramble here and Stevenson has ended up in Pippen's guard.
Pippen tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Stevenson postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Pippen is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Stevenson, into his guard.

Stevenson looks gassed!

Stevenson is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Stevenson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Pippen can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Pippen working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Stevenson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Pippen gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Andrew Stevenson will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action!


Stevenson takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Horrible takedown by Stevenson or perhaps it was just good defense by Pippen which made him look bad.
Stevenson shoots in looking for a takedown. Pippen tries to sprawl out of it but Stevenson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Pippen manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Pippen works the jab nicely.
A left and a right from Pippen both land. Nice combination.
Pippen throws a shot to the body.
Stevenson fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Pippen avoids it really well and circles away.

and Stevenson counters by clinching up.
Pippen misses with some punches.
Pippen can't break the clinch.
Stevenson is breathing heavily.
Stevenson jumps guard but Pippen stands there with Stevenson around his waist. Stevenson gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Pippen wants to break free but Stevenson has control.
Pippen wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Pippen fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Stevenson tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Pippen just stands there and leans against the cage.

Stevenson jumps guard and drags Pippen to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Pippen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Stevenson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Pippen wants to control from the top but Stevenson keeps moving.
Pippen slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Pippen wants to lay and pray for a moment but Stevenson keeps working.
Pippen knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Stevenson on the ground.

Pippen wants to control for a moment but Stevenson uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.

Stevenson is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Pippen pulls his head out easily.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Stevenson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Pippen pinned against the cage. Pippen gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Stevenson fails with a takedown attempt.
Stevenson shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Jordan Pippen is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Pippen doesn't manage to clinch there - Stevenson circles away.
Stevenson takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Andrew Stevenson.
I think Stevenson has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
