PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Gary Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Teddy Hoetzer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Teddy Hoetzer will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Gary Lee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Teddy Hoetzer!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Saam Ante and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hoetzer wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Hoetzer throws a sloppy head kick and Lee moves out of range easily.

Hoetzer tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Hoetzer jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Hoetzer is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Lee misses with a head kick.

Lee fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Hoetzer sprawls well initially but Lee persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Ground and pound from Lee.
Lee working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hoetzer is not content to let Lee control the position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hoetzer can do anything to dispel that myth.
Hoetzer is looking to control Lee's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Hoetzer avoid being mounted?

Lee not doing much here.
Lee sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Hoetzer defending well though.
Hoetzer tries to get to full guard but Lee has control of the leg.
Hoetzer is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Lee scores with a couple of nice shots.
Lee has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Lee throwing shots but Hoetzer is blocking nicely.
Lee wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hoetzer keeps working.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Lee not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Lee goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.

Lee looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Lee throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Hoetzer works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Lee trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Lee throws a big right hand that misses.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Lee loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Hoetzer preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Lee postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Hoetzer lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Lee!
Lee is in all sorts of trouble here.
Lee is working hard here to advance position.
Hoetzer can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Lee is looking to escape.
Lee tries to get back to half guard but can't.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Hoetzer tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Teddy Hoetzer will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Hoetzer lands a nice leg kick that just misses Lee's sensitive parts.
Hoetzer throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Lee sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Hoetzer ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Lee moves away.
Lee avoids the body shot from Hoetzer.
Hoetzer connects with a jab.


It looks like Gary Lee has been cut.
Hoetzer paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Teddy Hoetzer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hoetzer shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
The fighters circling - Hoetzer throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Hoetzer jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Hoetzer misses with a wild body shot.

Lee fails with a takedown attempt.
Lee showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Hoetzer.
Hoetzer will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Hoetzer fails to land with a series of punches.
Lee does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Hoetzer takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Lee dodges the punch combination from Hoetzer.
Lee showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Hoetzer.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
A bone on bone clash there as Lee blocks the leg kick.
A telegraphed right hand from Hoetzer misses the target.
Hoetzer lands a two punch combo.
Lee has a takedown stuffed.
Hoetzer cracks Lee with an open hand slap.
Hoetzer fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Lee on the side of the head.
Hoetzer throws a chopping leg kick but Lee manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Lee takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.


Lee is rocked!
Lee tries to get into range but Hoetzer steps to the side and lands a beautiful hook that drops Lee! He's faceplanted into the mat, ass in the air... he's out cold! That's an image he won't want to show his grandkids when he gets older! Hoetzer scores the big KO victory!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:03 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Teddy Hoetzer!
