PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Evander Roy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Red Rouge (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rouge has chosen I See Red - Split Endz as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Red Rouge is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Evander Roy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Red Rouge!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Skip Squint and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Roy tries to clinch up.
Roy tries to clinch but Rouge is having none of it.
Rouge checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Rouge takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Roy misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Roy lands a nice shot that snaps Rouge's head back.

Rouge closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Roy to the mat! Roy manages to get full guard.
Rouge postures up and lands a big shot to Roy's brow.
Rouge trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Rouge is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Rouge works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Rouge prevents Roy from standing back up.

Rouge is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Roy sees it coming and defends easily.

Rouge looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Rouge looks gassed!

Rouge is working for a submission of some sort.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rouge throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Rouge wants to work for an arm triangle but Roy is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Roy kicks Rouge off and gets back to his feet.
Rouge moves out of range as Roy throws a body kick.
Roy throws a head kick but Rouge moves out of range.
Rouge dives in and grabs Roy's left leg, looking for a takedown. Roy pushes down on Rouge's head and hops out.
Roy misses with a head kick.
Roy thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Rouge if he has to take too many more of those.
Roy tries to close the distance and clinch up but Rouge swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Roy throws a jab but it's blocked by Rouge.
Roy stuffs the takedown attempt from Rouge. Rouge gets slowly back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rouge walks forward, straight into a front kick from Roy.
Roy throws a sloppy head kick and Rouge moves out of range easily.
Rouge avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Evander Roy is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Roy goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Roy misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Rouge.
Rouge takes a kick to the side of the head.
Roy throws a head kick that misses.
Roy looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Roy throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Rouge shoots in and drives through. Roy sprawls well.
Evander Roy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Red Rouge.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Roy doesn't manage to clinch there - Rouge circles away.
Roy lands with a slapping head kick.
Roy is looking to clinch.
Evander Roy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Roy tries a head kick but it misses.

Rouge closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Rouge working over Roy with some ground and pound. Roy looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

Rouge is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Roy has managed to free his arm - good work.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Roy looks like he's trying to stand up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Evander Roy dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Rouge avoids the head kick by Roy.
Roy tries a head kick but it misses.
Roy misses with an attempted mid kick.

Roy closes the distance and clinches.
A right hook to the body lands for Roy.
Roy swings wildly with an uppercut but Rouge uses good head movement to avoid it.
Roy works on Rouge's body with a couple of short punches.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Roy tries to break the clinch but Rouge is controlling the position.
A bit of stalling here from Roy.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Rouge as Roy tries to tie him up.
Roy lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Roy working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Rouge jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Roy walks away with a smile on his face. Rouge gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Roy forces Rouge back against the cage and clinches.
Rouge takes an elbow to the temple.

Roy manages to break the clinch.

Rouge gets in close and instigates a clinch.

and Rouge counters with a nice double leg into side control. Roy won't be happy with that.

Rouge goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Roy rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Rouge's guard! Nice work there by Roy!

Rouge has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Roy can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Rouge is breathing heavily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Rouge looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Roy wants to stand but Rouge has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Roy is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Rouge has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Roy is looking to defend but Rouge has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Roy! Rouge pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Roy taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:46 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Red Rouge!
