PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jon Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sherman Paul III (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sherman Paul III told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jon Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sherman Paul III!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, John Kavanagh and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Paul III changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jones tries to avoid it but Paul III manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jones to the ground. Jones escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Jones takes one to the side of the head.
Paul III fails with the takedown.

Jones clinches up with Paul III and pushes him back against the cage.
Jones lands with a short punch from the clinch.
A short body shot lands from Jones as the two fighters clinch.
Paul III has had enough of the clinch but Jones keeps him there for the moment.

Jones turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Jones manages to end up in side control.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jon Jones.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Jones, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
