Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Mack (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ethan Strides (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mack comes to the cage accompanied by Ain't no Rest for the Wicked. Ethan Strides has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Johnny Mack! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ethan Strides! The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Jorge Garcia and Russell Pearce.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Strides tries to close the distance and clinch but Mack swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Mack shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Strides defends it nicely. Mack misses with a head kick.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Mack. Excellent takedown into side control there by Mack. Mack working the head with strikes. Mack is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Strides knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Mack has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Mack decides to stand back up. Mack steps back and let's Strides get back to his feet. Mack shoots for a double leg takedown but Strides sprawls well. He's pushed Mack's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Strides fails with an attempt to clinch.
Johnny Mack seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Strides bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Mack is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Strides. Mack fails with the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Johnny Mack. That's going to take a lot out of him. Mack avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Ethan Strides is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
That's one minute gone in the round. Strides is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Strides slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Strides moves into the clinch. Strides throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Mack blocks it with crossed arms. Strides tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Mack lands a shoulder strike. Mack tries for a takedown but Strides manages to get underhooks.
Strides lands an elbow inside that Mack shrugs off. Strides lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Mack. Mack blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. With the fighters up against the cage, Strides throws an elbow but misses. Mack tries to pull guard but Strides holds him up against the cage and eventually Mack drops back down to his feet.

Strides has Mack pressed against the cage, preventing Mack from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Mack can't get the takedown.

Mack prevents a body shot from Strides. Mack ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Mack no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Mack looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Mack is breathing heavily. Strides wants to control from the top but Mack keeps moving.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mack working for a triangle but Strides defends it easily.
Mack has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Strides is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Mack. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mack is looking for a sweep. Strides gets to mount! Mack was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly. Mack can't escape the position.
Mack is squirming around, avoiding Strides's attempts to control the action. Mack is wriggling around trying to escape.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Strides trying to control but he's not successful this time. Mack is looking to get to half guard. Mack is working hard here to advance position. Mack is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position. Strides trying to control but Mack is having none of it. Mack is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Strides stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Mack closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Strides to the mat! Strides manages to get full guard. Mack throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Strides works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Mack postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Mack scoring with some ground and pound. Mack wants to stand but Strides is controlling his posture from full guard. Mack stands up over Strides, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Strides scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Mack looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Strides is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Johnny Mack dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Mack misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Strides turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Mack dives in and grabs Strides's left leg, looking for a takedown. Strides pushes down on Mack's head and hops out. Mack feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Mack loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Strides looking to control.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Strides throws a head kick that misses. Strides is breathing heavily. Strides fails in his attempt to clinch. Strides tries to clinch but Mack is having none of it. A left lands for Mack. Mack is looking to land body kicks. Johnny Mack is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Mack misses with a wild combination.

Mack uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Strides has time to react. Mack scores a takedown into full mount! Strides is desperately trying to improve his position but Mack has a good base and remains in mount. Strides trying desperately to get to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Mack dominating with strikes here. Mack is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Strides to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Strides shrugs it off. Mack wants to control the pace but Strides is squirming around nicely. Mack lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Mack goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Strides turns into him and now he's in Mack's guard.
Mack working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Strides doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Strides manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Strides trying to control but Mack is working from the bottom.

Strides got a little sloppy there for a moment and Mack has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Strides has managed to get both his arms back between Mack's legs - danger averted. Strides drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Strides jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Mack looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Strides has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Mack to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Strides is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Mack pulls down on the head and he's put Strides to sleep! This one is all over!
