PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Black Ninja (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jimbo Slice (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Black Ninja!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jimbo Slice!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Steve Montenegro and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Slice bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Slice trying to control the action but Ninja is working from the bottom.
Ninja is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Slice off and has taken his back!
Slice tries to escape but Ninja has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Slice trying to control the hands but Ninja won't let him.
Slice is really stuck here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Slice rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Slice is looking for a sweep. Ninja is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Slice wants to control but Ninja is keeping busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Slice wants to get back to his feet.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Ninja avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Slice changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Ninja looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Slice has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Slice misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Ninja tries for a takedown but Slice circles away easily

and Slice counters with a takedown into side control.
Slice looks gassed!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ninja struggling a bit here.
Slice is looking to take a break and control but Ninja is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Ninja is being controlled here.
You can see the frustration on Ninja's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Slice decides to stand up, so the ref orders Ninja to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jimbo Slice dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


The fight stays on the outside here - Slice looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Slice rushes Ninja and presses him up against the cage.
Slice tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Ninja smiles and moves away.
Slice tries to bum rush Ninja with a series of wild strikes but Ninja uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Slice feints and then cracks Ninja's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Ninja down.
Slice shoots and misses

and Ninja counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Ninja.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Slice has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Ninja trying to control the position from guard on top but Slice is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Slice is trying to keep Ninja in close.

Slice is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Ninja is aware though and is defending well.
Slice controls Ninja momentarily but Ninja frees himself.
Ninja won't allow Slice to sweep him here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Slice pulls Ninja in close to his closed guard and prevents Ninja from doing any damage or advancing position.

Slice working for submissions but it's allowed Ninja to get to half guard.
Slice is doing well to control the position and prevent Ninja from advancing to side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Slice is looking to improve his position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Black Ninja dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!



Slice looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Ninja!
A nice elbow there by Slice.
Slice fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Slice controlling his opponent.
Ninja is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Slice lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Slice controlling from mount.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Slice in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Slice lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Despite being in the dominant position, Jimbo Slice just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Slice clinches up against the cage.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jimbo Slice comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Slice has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
