The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ortiz looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Mrd is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Mrd is working hard here to advance position.

Mrd looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Ortiz missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Ortiz throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Ortiz looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Mrd with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Ortiz really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mrd. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Ortiz thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Mrd is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Ortiz pulls his head out easily.
Ortiz throwing shots but Mrd is blocking nicely.
Ortiz sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Mrd defending well though.
Mrd flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Mrd is pressing down on Ortiz's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Ortiz is posturing up here but Mrd has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Ortiz tries to roll out but it's too tight and Ortiz has to tap! Slick submission there by Mrd!
