With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Troy Cashman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Brian Simpson!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Alexandre Firmino and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cashman throws a right hand that Simpson ducks under and follows up with a left that Simpson also avoids with ease.
Cashman looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Simpson fails to land with a series of punches.

Simpson drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Simpson must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Cashman has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Simpson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

and Simpson counters with a nice double leg into side control. Cashman won't be happy with that.
Simpson tries to advance to mount but can't.

Simpson decides to stand up, so the ref orders Cashman to his feet.
Simpson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Cashman but Cashman pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Cashman wants to clinch but Simpson slips to the side

and Simpson counters with a single leg into guard. Cashman didn't expect that.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
Cashman is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Horrible takedown by Simpson or perhaps it was just good defense by Cashman which made him look bad.
Cashman throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Simpson counters with a body kick that stops Cashman in his tracks momentarily.
Simpson buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Simpson lands a nice shot to the body.
Troy Cashman is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Simpson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Cashman's waist but Simpson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Simpson off to one side.
Simpson will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Simpson is looking to take a break and control but Cashman is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Simpson tries to reverse the position but Cashman maintains control.

Simpson tries to improve his position but Cashman has taken his back! Cashman has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Simpson tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Cashman Pushes Simpson away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
