These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Almerson closes this distance looking for a takedown but Nakao circles away.
Nakao leaves Almerson with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Nakao feints and as Almerson raises his hands in defense, Nakao changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Nakao is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Almerson is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Almerson has escaped and now he's on top!
Almerson tries to free his leg and advance position but Nakao is retaining full guard.

Almerson postures up in Nakao's guard and throws a big left but Nakao blocks it.

Nakao isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Almerson stacks Nakao on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Almerson!
