Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Roman Akinfeev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Smith is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Guerilla Radio by RATM. Matt Smith acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Robert Douchet and Steve Smith.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith stuffs the takedown.
Smith showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Akinfeev.
Akinfeev closes the distance and clinches up with Smith, looking for a takedown. Akinfeev pushes Smith against the cage but Smith circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Akinfeev dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Smith. That did some damage!
Akinfeev shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Smith as he avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Roman Akinfeev. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Akinfeev throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Smith closes this distance looking for a takedown but Akinfeev circles away.
Akinfeev changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Smith tries to avoid it but Akinfeev manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Smith to the ground. Smith escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Smith swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Smith lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

It looks like Roman Akinfeev has been cut.

Smith throws a jab but it's blocked by Akinfeev.
Smith tries for a takedown but Akinfeev sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Akinfeev swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Akinfeev cracks Smith with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Smith slips a jab and a cross from Akinfeev.
Nice takedown defense from Smith. No joy for Akinfeev on that attempt.
The crowd cheers as Smith lands an impressive looking overhand right. Akinfeev doesn't seem phased though.

Smith shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Akinfeev's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Akinfeev lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Smith!
Smith wants to get back to his feet.
Akinfeev has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Smith's face.
Smith is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
