Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Cael Liddell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Albert Desalvo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Russell Pearce and Reed Andrews.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Desalvo avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Liddell defending well as Desalvo loads up on a big left hand.
Desalvo needs to keep his hands up - Liddell had a free shot at his head there.
Desalvo dodges the punch combination from Liddell.
Liddell throws a right hand that Desalvo ducks under and follows up with a left that Desalvo also avoids with ease.
Desalvo staying out of range there.
Liddell throws a hook to the side of Desalvo's head but Desalvo sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Desalvo is defended easily by Liddell.
Liddell rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Desalvo moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Liddell slips a jab and a cross from Desalvo.
Desalvo takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Liddell throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Liddell falls off balance throwing a combination

and Desalvo decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Liddell's guard.
Desalvo pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Liddell is keeping the position for now.
Liddell is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Desalvo has gone for a leg lock! Liddell slips out almost immediately though and dives into Desalvo's guard.

Desalvo has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Liddell can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Desalvo is working an open guard so Liddell takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Liddell stuffs the takedown attempt from Desalvo. Desalvo gets slowly back to his feet.

Liddell misses with a wild body shot.
Liddell leaves Desalvo with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Cael Liddell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Albert Desalvo.
Liddell lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
No joy there for Liddell, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
A combination from Liddell does no damage.

Desalvo is looking to clinch but Liddell is avoiding it.
Liddell misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Liddell stalks Desalvo and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Desalvo's face. Desalvo staggers backwards, shaken.

Desalvo is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Liddell.
Liddell rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Desalvo moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Nice takedown defense from Liddell. No joy for Desalvo on that attempt.
Liddell throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Liddell misses with a double jab
and Desalvo counters with an inside leg kick.
Liddell is breathing heavily.

Liddell scores with a shot to the body.
Liddell throws a sloppy body shot

and Desalvo counters with a nice double leg into side control. Liddell won't be happy with that.

Desalvo has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Liddell is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Desalvo yanks on the arm and Liddell is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Desalvo.
