PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Marius Berleski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jackson Brown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Marius Berleski has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Marius Berleski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Jackson Brown!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Steven Brown and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brown throws a combination. Berleski tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Berleski avoids the head kick by Brown.
Berleski keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
A combination from Berleski does no damage.

Brown closes the distance and clinches.
Brown jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Berleski walks away with a smile on his face. Brown gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Brown throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Berleski was covering up waiting for the punch and Brown finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Brown looking to sit in guard and control but Berleski gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Berleski postures up in Brown's guard and throws a big left but Brown blocks it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Berleski throws a strike but Brown rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Berleski wriggles free and stands up.

Brown is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Berleski's half guard.
Berleski is trying to get back to full guard.

Brown looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Berleski lands a jab-cross combination.


It looks like Jackson Brown has been cut.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Brown goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Berleski rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Brown's guard! Nice work there by Berleski!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Berleski working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Brown's head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Berleski lands a couple of elbows.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Marius Berleski will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Jackson Brown's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Berleski throws a head kick that misses

and Brown counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Brown.

Brown has Berleski pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Brown pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Berleski tumbling to the mat - Brown dives into Berleski's guard.

Berleski is looking to stand up but Brown isn't so interested in that idea.

Berleski manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Brown manages to get himself to full guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Brown is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Berleski defends well.

Berleski stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Brown swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Berleski gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Berleski escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Brown keeps the fight on the outside.
Brown tries for a takedown but Berleski circles away easily
and Berleski counters with a straight right hand.
Berleski connects with a solid leg kick.
Brown keeps the fight on the outside.
Berleski looks to land a left hand but Brown moved out of range nicely.

Berleski clinches up with Brown and pushes him back against the cage.

Berleski pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Nice straight punches there by Berleski. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Berleski.

Jackson Brown seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Brown thows a body kick. Berleski tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Brown throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Berleski counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Brown is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Brown avoids a punch combination nicely.
Berleski throws a nice looking combination but Brown bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Brown fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Berleski avoids it really well and circles away.
Berleski misses the jab.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Brown scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Marius Berleski will probably get the nod.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Berleski will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Brown feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Brown closes the distance and pushes Berleski back into the cage.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Brown has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Berleski is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Berleski breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Brown shoots in and bounces Berleski off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Berleski has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Berleski wants to get back to his feet but Brown is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Brown gets to his feet. Berleski looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Brown thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Brown has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Berleski!
Brown unloads with some shots from mount but Berleski bucks and avoids them well.

Marius Berleski is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Brown cracks Berleski with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Berleski bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Jackson Brown has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Brown is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Brown wants to sweep but no luck.
Berleski trying to control but Brown is working from the bottom.
Berleski looking to sit in guard and control but Brown gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Jackson Brown comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Berleski has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
