Lacey is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Down With The Sickness. Ralph Kong has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jim Lacey!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Winston Howard and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lacey scores with a leg kick.
Kong swats away the attempt to clinch by Lacey.
Nice takedown defense from Lacey. No joy for Kong on that attempt.
Jim Lacey seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kong shoots in but no luck this time.
Lacey fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Lacey bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Kong's head.

Lacey decides to stand up, so the ref orders Kong to his feet.

Lacey has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kong is working away from the top position though.

Kong wants to clinch.

Kong drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Kong wants to control from the top but Lacey keeps moving.
Kong has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Kong tries to free his leg and advance position but Lacey is retaining full guard.

Lacey can't keep his opponent in guard - Kong advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Lacey tries to kick Kong off but Kong keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Kong wants to free his trapped foot but Lacey is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Kong seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Lacey does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Lacey throws a right and a left that both miss.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jim Lacey dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Lacey rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Kong moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Kong avoids a punch combination nicely.
Lacey tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Kong counters by moving into the clinch.
Kong fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Lacey wants to break free but Kong has control.
Kong keeps control of Lacey as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Lacey wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Lacey wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Kong has him pressed against the cage.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Lacey.
Lacey is looking to control Kong's arms but Kong gets an underhook and turns him. Now Lacey has his back to the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kong has a couple of punches blocked by Lacey.

Kong has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Lacey avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Kong decides to pull guard.
Kong is pulling down on Lacey's head. It's preventing any offense from Lacey, at least for the moment.

Kong working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Lacey doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Lacey manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Kong has a closed guard, preventing Lacey from standing up.
Kong is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Kong shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Lacey prevents Kong from taking his back.

Kong is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Lacey can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Kong content just to control the position here.
Kong looking to control but Lacey is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Lacey is squirming around, avoiding Kong's attempts to control the action.
Lacey is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

Lacey is desperately trying to improve his position but Kong has a good base and remains in mount.

Kong moves to take his opponent's back.
What can Lacey do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

Kong has got one arm under Lacey's chin. This could be trouble... Lacey trying to control the other hand but Kong gets it free and sqeezes tight - just a matter of time now! Yep, Lacey has tapped out! The fight is over!
