The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
souza keeps the fight on the outside.
souza changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Rotten looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Rotten throwing some weak shots from the bottom that do no damage.

Rotten is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if souza gets his way!

souza tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Rotten swivels and escapes.
Rotten doesn't succeed with the takedown
and souza counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Rotten's guard now.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
souza is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Rotten is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

and souza counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Rotten!

Rotten is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
souza swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Rotten is now in souza's guard. A big mistake from souza there, giving up the dominant position!
souza has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Rotten should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, souza has tightened it up now! Rotten should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
