Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Valentin Romanov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tommy James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tommy James has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Valentin Romanov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tommy James!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Viktor Lagutenko and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

James clinches.
The referee calls for James to work.
James scores with a nice hook to the head.
James is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Romanov gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Romanov has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

James turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and James manages to end up in side control.

James might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Romanov kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Despite being in the dominant position, Tommy James just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

James moves into range and clinches up with Romanov.
James is pressed up against the cage. Romanov has hold of a leg and is looking to drag James down to the mat. James avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Romanov shoots for a double leg takedown but James sprawls well. He's pushed Romanov's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Valentin Romanov. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Romanov tries to score a power double leg takedown but James sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Romanov somewhat.
James lands a nice leg kick that just misses Romanov's sensitive parts.
Valentin Romanov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

James looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
James is keen to just control but Romanov is a slippery customer.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Romanov regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from James.
James wants to control from the top but Romanov keeps moving.

Romanov can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as James controls the pace.

Romanov has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but James can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Tommy James comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well James has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
