Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Joe Slaughter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Slaughter comes to the cage accompanied by Johnny Cash - Hurt. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joe Slaughter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Alex King!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Lou da Vinci and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

King takes the fight into the clinch.
Slaughter prevents the takedown attempt.
Slaughter is pressed up against the cage. King has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Slaughter down to the mat. Slaughter avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Slaughter tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but King paws at him with a jab and circles away.
King misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Joe Slaughter has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alex King.
King looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

King shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Slaughter is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Slaughter got a little sloppy there for a moment and King has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Slaughter has managed to get both his arms back between King's legs - danger averted.
King has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
King looks gassed!

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Slaughter moves into range and clinches up with King.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Slaughter has King pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Slaughter pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending King tumbling to the mat - Slaughter dives into King's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Slaughter postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
King manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Slaughter manages to get himself to full guard.
King throws a strike but Slaughter rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Slaughter stands up from King's guard - Slaughter perhaps looking for a knockout.
King is trying hard to land a takedown here. Slaughter sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
King tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Slaughter swivels and escapes.

Slaughter rushes King and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Slaughter doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
King keeps control of Slaughter as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Slaughter tries to land knees in the clinch but King avoids the damage to the body.
King tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

King is fighting off a takedown attempt but Slaughter is just too persistent for him and manages to trip King to the mat. King regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Slaughter lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

King looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Slaughter drives through and clinches with King against the cage.
King drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Slaughter gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Slaughter has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. King is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Slaughter breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Slaughter throws a combination but it was largely blocked by King.

Slaughter gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from King.

Slaughter's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and King counters with a nice double leg into side control. Slaughter won't be happy with that.

King looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

King thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Slaughter gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Slaughter regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from King.

Slaughter is pulling down on King's head. It's preventing any offense from King, at least for the moment.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Slaughter wants to sweep but no luck.
Slaughter wants to stand and escape but King is having none of it.
King is looking to work some ground and pound but Slaughter has wrist control.

King is stalling here. Slaughter is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! King seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Slaughter has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Slaughter digs a good hook to King's body.
Slaughter scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Slaughter tries to land a front kick but King steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Slaughter throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Slaughter tries to clinch up but King circles away and keeps his distance.
Slaughter throws a right and a left that both miss.

King closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - King lands in his opponent's guard.

Alex King showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

King has his feet on Slaughter's thighs here. He's pushed Slaughter off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Slaughter screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
