Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between John Douglas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Blaze Cies (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, John Douglas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Blaze Cies!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Patrick Alders and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Douglas wants to clinch up but Cies keeps it at a distance.
Cies looking to land some kicks to the body here.
The fight stays on the outside here - Douglas looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
John Douglas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Douglas tries to close the distance and clinch up but Cies swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Cies misses with a wild body shot.
Douglas tries to clinch up but Cies circles away and keeps his distance.
Douglas shoots in but no luck this time.
Cies misses with a few strikes there.

Cies looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

Douglas is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Cies is aware though and is defending well.

Cies is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Cies avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Cies drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Cies jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Douglas on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Douglas tries to get out of the position.
Douglas wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Cies manages to pass to side control.

Cies is working for a kimura but Douglas is defending it quite comfortably.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Cies is keen to just control but Douglas is a slippery customer.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Douglas is trying to stand back up but Cies is controlling him
Cies is looking to take a break and control but Douglas is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Cies prevents Douglas from improving his position.

Cies is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Douglas defends it well.
Douglas misses with some strikes from the bottom.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Cies shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Douglas's guard.

Douglas knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Cies on the ground.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Douglas drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Cies takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Douglas tries for a kimura but Cies is defending well.
Cies is trying to control Douglas's posture but Douglas avoids it.

Blaze Cies dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Cies.

Douglas changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Cies looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Cies has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Douglas escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Douglas!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Douglas tries to advance to mount but can't.
Cies dodges the ground and pound from Douglas.
Cies manages to get back to half guard.
Cies is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

That was a close second round but I would say that John Douglas will probably get the nod.

Douglas closes the distance and clinches up with Cies, looking for a takedown. Douglas pushes Cies against the cage but Cies circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Blaze Cies comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Cies has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
