The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Kenichi Hosakawa and Hirohito Nitta.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Akiyama changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kitiona tries to avoid it but Akiyama manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kitiona to the ground. Kitiona escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Akiyama drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Kitiona manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Akiyama has Kitiona in his guard.

Akiyama had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Kitiona is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Akiyama Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Kitiona's back instead.

Let's hope that Kitiona has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
