PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Andersen Silvesk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jez Stukeley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Andersen Silvesk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silvesk is looking to clinch but Stukeley is avoiding it.
Silvesk tries to clinch up.

Stukeley shoots in and bounces Silvesk off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Silvesk will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Silvesk is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Silvesk is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Stukeley wants to control but Silvesk is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Silvesk looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Stukeley is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Silvesk's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Silvesk's back!

Silvesk is looking to advance position but Stukeley has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Stukeley avoids the attempt from Silvesk to control.
Silvesk really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Stukeley swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Silvesk is now in Stukeley's guard. A big mistake from Stukeley there, giving up the dominant position!

Silvesk postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Silvesk wants to pass the guard but Stukeley is keeping the position.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Silvesk would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Andersen Silvesk will probably get the nod.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Silvesk throws a leg kick but Stukeley sees it coming and checks it nicely.

Silvesk throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Silvesk throws a sloppy head kick and Stukeley moves out of range easily.
Silvesk fails with an attempt to clinch.
Good leg kick by Silvesk there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Stukeley is breathing heavily.
Silvesk tries to close the distance and clinch but Stukeley swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Stukeley avoids the head kick by Silvesk.
Andersen Silvesk is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Silvesk throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Silvesk lands a high kick!
Silvesk tries to clinch up but Stukeley circles away and keeps his distance.
Stukeley avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Silvesk throws a head kick that Stukeley semi-blocks.

Stukeley feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Silvesk pulls Stukeley in close to prevent any damage.
Stukeley stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Silvesk swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Silvesk is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Stukeley is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Silvesk is trying to control. Stukeley wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Stukeley can do anything to dispel that myth.

Silvesk is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Stukeley doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Silvesk.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Silvesk throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

It looks like Jez Stukeley has been cut.
Stukeley fails to land the takedown.

Stukeley bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Stukeley tries to score with some ground and pound. Silvesk controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Stukeley stops Silvesk from getting back to his feet.

Stukeley takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Silvesk manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Silvesk takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Silvesk wants to control the pace but Stukeley is squirming around nicely.

Silvesk can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Stukeley is looking to escape.

Silvesk cracks Stukeley with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Silvesk unloads with some shots from mount but Stukeley bucks and avoids them well.
Andersen Silvesk is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Andersen Silvesk showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Silvesk has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
