Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Melvin Ferguson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sami Ojankaivaja (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Sami Ojankaivaja!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, James Atkins and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ferguson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Ojankaivaja looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Ojankaivaja will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Ferguson forces his way into half guard.

Ferguson is looking for a kimura here.

Ferguson is working for a kimura but Ojankaivaja is defending it quite comfortably.
Ojankaivaja is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Ojankaivaja changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Ferguson looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

and Ojankaivaja counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Ojankaivaja won't allow Ferguson to sweep him here.
Melvin Ferguson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Ferguson could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
