Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, James Thornton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Bjj Guy!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Radbod Blank and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Guy looks for a takedown but Thornton sprawls well.
Guy is trying hard to land a takedown here. Thornton sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Guy clinches.

Guy lands a takedown into guard.
Guy stopping the sweep attempt from Thornton.
Thornton will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Thornton is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Guy has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Thornton avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
James Thornton has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bjj Guy.
Thornton cracks Guy with a nice body shot.
Guy is trying to break the clinch but Thornton has him pressed against the cage.
Thornton tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Guy just stands there and leans against the cage.

Guy manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Thornton stands up and waves to Guy to follow him.
James Thornton seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Thornton looks to clinch

and Guy holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Thornton fails to pull guard.
Thornton wants to get back to striking at distance but Guy won't allow it.

Thornton's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Guy takes a jab right on the kisser.
Thornton throws a head kick that half lands.
Guy shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Thornton as he avoids it easily.
Thornton wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

and Guy counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Guy wants to pass the guard but Thornton is keeping the position.

Guy decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Thornton lands with an uppercut that bounces Guy off the cage and back into rage.
Thornton scores with a one two! Guy had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Guy has managed to clinch.

Thornton breaks the clinch.
Guy shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Thornton pinned against the cage. Thornton gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Left hook, right uppercut from Thornton.
Thornton lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Guy gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Thornton really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Thornton escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Thornton looks to land a combination. Guy sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Guy moves into range and clinches up with Thornton.
Guy slows down the pace here.

Thornton working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Thornton wants to break free but Guy has control.
Thornton tries to land knees in the clinch but Guy avoids the damage to the body.

Thornton jumps guard.
Thornton is breathing heavily.
Thornton is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Guy is controlling him.
Guy controls from within his opponent's guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Guy decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Thornton tries to clinch but Guy moves away

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
and Guy counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Guy.
Guy is looking to work some ground and pound but Thornton has wrist control.
Guy with a flurry of punches that miss.
Thornton knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Guy on the ground.
Thornton working a defensive guard but Guy manages to pass into side control anyway.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Guy moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that James Thornton will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action!



Thornton looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Guy has his hands clasped together around Thornton's back. He's all about the action.
Guy is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Thornton's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Thornton's back!
Guy trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Thornton doesn't escape.
Thornton is really stuck here.
Guy biding his time, looking for the opening.

Thornton wants to get back to his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Guy has good solid back control here.

Despite being in the dominant position, Bjj Guy just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Thornton tries to clinch

and Guy counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Guy.
Thornton wants to control the position but Guy says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Guy sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Thornton is in trouble now - Guy has advanced to mount!
Guy sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Thornton's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Guy throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Thornton is trying to reverse the position but instead Guy has taken his back - oops!
Guy punches the canvas rather than the man.
Guy is riding his opponent, not letting Thornton buck him off.
Guy throwing lazy shots from the back mount that aren't doing any damage.

Guy has both hooks in and is working for a choke. Thornton is in real trouble here. Guy gets an arm under the chin and tightens the submission attempt... is this the end? Yes, Thornton is tapping out! Guy wins by rear naked choke!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:02 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Bjj Guy!
