Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Billy Bombs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Urijah Samuels!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Mauricio Rocha and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bombs tries to clinch but Samuels moves out of range.
Bombs misses with a two punch combination.

Samuels drives through with a takedown into guard.
Samuels prevents Bombs from getting back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Samuels drops back looking for a leg! Bombs is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Bombs manages to kick Samuels off! Samuels jumps back into Bombs's guard.

Samuels drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Samuels jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Samuels stops Bombs from standing up.
Samuels works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Samuels is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Samuels frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Samuels with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Samuels goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Bombs is on top in guard.
Bombs postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Samuels pushes Bombs off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Bombs throws a nice looking combination but Samuels bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Billy Bombs seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bombs shoots in looking for a takedown. Samuels tries to sprawl out of it but Bombs keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Samuels manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Bombs shoots and misses

and Samuels counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Bombs!

Samuels swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Bombs is now in Samuels's guard. A big mistake from Samuels there, giving up the dominant position!

Bombs has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Samuels is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Bombs is controlling him.

Samuels wriggles free and stands up.
Samuels fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Bombs throws a head kick that misses

and Samuels counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Bombs wants to stand up but Samuels is controlling him.
Bombs is breathing heavily.

Bombs controls Samuels momentarily but Samuels frees himself.

Samuels drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Samuels jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Bombs is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

and Samuels counters with a single leg into guard. Bombs didn't expect that.

Samuels has gone for a leg lock! Bombs slips out almost immediately though and dives into Samuels's guard.
Bombs trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Samuels scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Samuels fails with the takedown.
Bombs throws a lazy head kick

so Samuels counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Samuels thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Samuels is breathing heavily.
Bombs is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Samuels is controlling him.
Samuels passes Bombs's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Samuels is working for an americana but Bombs has been sneaky and has managed to get back to half guard, whilst Samuels was thinking about the submission.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Samuels thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Samuels has gone for a leg lock! Bombs slips out almost immediately though and dives into Samuels's guard.

Samuels kicks Bombs off and gets to his feet.
Bombs moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bombs misses with a wild combination.
A nice combination there by Bombs.
Samuels circles away from the clinch attempt

and Samuels counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Samuels.

Samuels postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Bombs is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Samuels, into his guard.

Bombs knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Samuels on the ground.

Samuels scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Bombs with a poor takedown

and Samuels counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Bombs's guard now.
Bombs might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Samuels passes Bombs's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Samuels is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Bombs doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Samuels.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Bombs wants to stand back up but Samuels manages to pass into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Urijah Samuels showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

and Samuels counters with a shoot takedown. Bombs fights it but they end up in guard.

Samuels has gone for a leg lock! Bombs slips out almost immediately though and dives into Samuels's guard.

Samuels is working an open guard so Bombs takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Samuels shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Bombs napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Bombs tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Samuels working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Samuels tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Samuels has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Bombs is pushing Samuels's head away, looking to escape. Samuels manages to hold on to the position though.

Samuels is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Bombs is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
You can see the frustration on Bombs's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

And that's the end of the fight!
Urijah Samuels comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Samuels winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
