The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Andersen looks for a takedown but Rodriguez sprawls well.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Andersen shoots for a double leg takedown but Rodriguez sprawls well. He's pushed Andersen's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Rodriguez throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
The crowd cheers as Rodriguez lands an impressive looking overhand right. Andersen doesn't seem phased though.

Rodriguez cracks Andersen with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Rodriguez has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Andersen to stand back up!

Andersen walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Rodriguez swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Rodriguez tries to bum rush Andersen with a series of wild strikes but Andersen uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Andersen with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Rodriguez to score with a decent uppercut.
Andersen shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Rodriguez as he avoids it easily.
Andersen is breathing heavily.
Andersen looks to throw the jab but Rodriguez is out of range.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rodriguez wants to control but Andersen is having none of it.

Andersen is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Rodriguez has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Rodriguez!

Rodriguez stands and steps away. Andersen gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Rodriguez digs a good body shot into Andersen's ribs.
Rodriguez throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Andersen sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Rodriguez throws the left hand but Andersen avoids the punch easily.
Andersen closes this distance looking for a takedown but Rodriguez circles away.
Bender Rodriguez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Erik Andersen.
Andersen takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Rodriguez lands a really nice looking cross but Andersen seems unphased.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Rodriguez lands with a big left! Andersen is wobbled badly! Rodriguez comes in with a flurry of punches and drops Andersen to the floor. The ref jumps in to save him from unneccessary punishment.
