Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rickson Araujo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sam Reese!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Araujo misses with a jab, cross combination.

Reese feints and as Araujo raises his hands in defense, Reese changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Reese trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Reese trying to move into half guard but instead Araujo has managed to sweep!

Araujo avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Reese looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Araujo decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

A punch combination from Araujo misses.
Rickson Araujo is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Reese blocks a head kick by Araujo.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Araujo throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Reese takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Reese shoots in for a double leg but Araujo sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Araujo lands a head kick. Reese smiles back at him and beckons him forward.


It looks like Sam Reese has been cut.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A punch combination from Araujo misses.
Reese dives in and grabs Araujo's left leg, looking for a takedown. Araujo pushes down on Reese's head and hops out.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Reese.
Rickson Araujo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sam Reese.
Reese slips a straight right by Araujo.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Reese takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Araujo connects with a right hand. Reese shakes it off.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Araujo lands with a kick to the temple. Reese shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Araujo throws a right and a left that Reese avoids nicely.
Araujo pulls out of a head kick attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Reese shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Araujo but Araujo pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Rickson Araujo is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Araujo throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Reese.
Araujo lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Araujo throws a front kick that sends Reese stumbling back into the cage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Reese blocks the body kick.
Araujo tries a head kick but it misses.
Araujo tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Reese was well out of range. Poor timing from Araujo.
Araujo misses with a wild combination.

Reese shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Araujo defends it nicely.
Reese shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Araujo but Araujo pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Araujo looks to land a left hand but Reese moved out of range nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Araujo throws a head kick but Reese moves out of range.
Araujo steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Reese.
Rickson Araujo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Araujo throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Araujo throws a sloppy head kick and Reese moves out of range easily.

Araujo throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Some wild striking there from Araujo.
Araujo throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Reese throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Araujo's waist but Araujo gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Reese off to one side.
Araujo misses with a jab, cross combination.
Reese changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Araujo tries to avoid it but Reese manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Araujo to the ground. Araujo escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Araujo thows a left - swing and a miss!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Araujo throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Rickson Araujo is winning the standup battle so far.
Araujo looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Araujo throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Reese's head.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Reese fails with a takedown attempt.
Rickson Araujo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sam Reese.

And that's the end of the fight!
Rickson Araujo showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Araujo, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
