Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Joe Patterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kiko Machine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Joe Patterson has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joe Patterson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kiko Machine!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Damien Edna and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Patterson stuffs the takedown attempt from Machine. Machine gets slowly back to his feet.
Machine looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Machine fails with an attempt to clinch.

Patterson shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Patterson decides to return to a standing position.
Patterson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Machine trying to control but Patterson postures up.

Patterson wants to control but Machine is keeping him busy.
Patterson looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Machine with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Patterson stands up from half guard.
Patterson moves into range and lands a nice body kick.

Patterson fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Machine, pushing him back against the cage.
The referee calls for Patterson to work.

Patterson gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Machine regains guard.

Machine has his foot on Patterson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Patterson works his way back into a safe position though.
Machine thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Machine tries to close the distance and clinch but Patterson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

and Patterson counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Patterson.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Patterson wanted to stand there but Machine had control of the position.

Patterson throws a strike but Machine rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Machine stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Patterson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Patterson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Machine is looking to stand up but Patterson won't let him.
Patterson is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Machine is controlling him.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Machine moves into the clinch.
Machine is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Patterson gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Joe Patterson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kiko Machine.
Patterson cracks Machine with a nice body shot.

Patterson manages to break the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

and Machine counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Machine slows the pace down in half guard.

Machine decides to return to a standing position.

Patterson is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Machine's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Machine's back!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Machine turns into Patterson and is now in his guard.
Machine stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Patterson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Patterson is looking to stand up but Machine isn't so interested in that idea.
Machine trying to move into half guard but instead Patterson has managed to sweep!

Patterson stands up and waves to Machine to follow him.
Machine moves in looking to clinch but Patterson pushes him off.
A nice inside leg kick there by Patterson. That's going to slow Machine down.
Patterson misses with a hook. Machine ducked under it nicely.
Patterson wants to slow Machine down by chopping away at his legs.

No joy there for Patterson, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Patterson falls off balance throwing a combination

and Machine counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Machine sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Patterson's guard.
Patterson on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Machine is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Patterson sees it coming and defends easily.
Machine is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Patterson reverses the position - he's now on top in Machine's guard.

Machine has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Patterson is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Machine.

Patterson decides to stand up, so the ref orders Machine to his feet.
Machine fails with the takedown
and Patterson counters with a series of strikes. Machine will be more careful next time no doubt.
Joe Patterson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Machine ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Patterson moves away.

so Machine counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Machine is pushing down on Patterson's leg trying to pass to half guard. Patterson is fighting to maintain full guard but Machine has managed to sneak the leg through.

Kiko Machine showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!



Patterson changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Machine looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Patterson decides to stand up, so the ref orders Machine to his feet.
Machine is trying hard to land a takedown here. Patterson sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Machine seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Patterson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Joe Patterson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Machine has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Patterson is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Well Patterson has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
