Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Billy Payne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Danny Beer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Beer has chosen Be somebody as his entrance music. Danny Beer is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Billy Payne!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Danny Beer!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Steven Brown and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Payne shoots in but no luck this time.
Beer avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Payne tries to score a power double leg takedown but Beer sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Payne somewhat.

Beer pushes Payne up against the cage in a clinch.
Beer goes for a takedown attempt but Payne pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Beer looks to land a combination but Payne avoids it well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Beer tries to clinch there but Payne circles away.

and Beer counters with a nice double leg into side control. Payne won't be happy with that.

Beer tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Beer has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Payne is trying to control Beer's posture but Beer avoids it.

Beer wants to control but Payne is keeping him busy.
Payne is trying to get back to half guard.

Beer working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Beer is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Payne knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Beer looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Beer thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Payne gets back to half guard.
Payne pushes Beer off looking to stand but Beer dives back in and keeps control.
Payne works his way to full guard. Good work.

Beer stands up and waves to Payne to follow him.
Billy Payne seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Beer dives in and grabs Payne's left leg, looking for a takedown. Payne pushes down on Beer's head and hops out.
Beer looks gassed!

Payne misses with the combination.

and Beer counters with a stiff right hand.

Payne scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Payne lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.


It looks like Danny Beer has been cut.
Payne shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Beer moves into the clinch.
Beer goes for a takedown attempt but Payne pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Beer is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Payne gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Beer has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Payne avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Payne gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Beer.

Payne drags the fight down to the ground.
Payne is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Beer thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Payne shoots in for a takedown but Beer shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Beer misses with a wild combination.
Payne stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Payne wants it to stay on the feet.
Beer avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
No luck for Payne with that takedown attempt.
Payne swings and misses with a hook to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Beer has taken the fight to the clinch.

Beer is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Payne wants the takedown. Beer is fighting it off but Payne persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Beer's guard against the cage.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Payne wants to control from the top but Beer keeps moving.
Payne wants to stand but Beer has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Payne accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Beer wants to get back to his feet but Payne is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Payne tries to free his leg and advance position but Beer is retaining full guard.
Beer is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Beer looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Beer has taken the fight to the clinch.
Payne tries to pull guard but Beer holds him up against the cage and eventually Payne drops back down to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Billy Payne. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Payne is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Beer gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Payne is pressed up against the cage. Beer has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Payne down to the mat. Payne avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Payne avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Payne closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Payne knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Beer on the ground.
Beer is not content to let Payne control the position.
Beer pushes Payne away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Payne gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Payne decides to stand back up. Payne steps back and let's Beer get back to his feet.
Payne fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Beer avoids it really well and circles away.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Payne throws a head kick that misses

and Beer counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!



Beer looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Beer is looking to work some ground and pound but Payne has wrist control.
Beer missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Payne will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Payne wants to sweep here but Beer controlling him for the moment.
Beer tries to free his leg and advance position but Payne is retaining full guard.
Beer is fighting to break Payne's control of his arms but Payne is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Beer drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Payne dives on top into guard.
Payne controls from within his opponent's guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Payne forces his way into half guard.
Payne is keen to just control but Beer is a slippery customer.
Beer trying to control from the bottom.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Payne slows the pace down in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Payne lands with a punch from half guard.
Payne tries to stand and escape but Beer actually recovers to full guard.

Beer isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Payne stacks Beer on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Payne!

Beer wants to get back to his feet but Payne drags him back down.
Beer struggling a bit here.

Beer explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Billy Payne is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Payne misses with a takedown attempt - Beer sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

and Beer counters by moving into the clinch.

Payne drags the fight down to the ground.
Payne not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Payne keeping moving, preventing Beer from controlling successfully.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Beer is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Beer drops back looking for a leg! Payne is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Payne manages to kick Beer off! Beer jumps back into Payne's guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Billy Payne.
I think Payne has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
