PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jaakko Lahomaki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcus Ferrari (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ferrari is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Oficina G3 - Depois da Guerra. Marcus Ferrari will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jaakko Lahomaki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Marcus Ferrari!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Daniel Cesar and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ferrari chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Nice sprawl there from Ferrari as Lahomaki shoots in.
Ferrari throws a head kick that Lahomaki semi-blocks.
Ferrari misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Lahomaki closes the distance and clinches up with Ferrari, looking for a takedown. Lahomaki pushes Ferrari against the cage but Ferrari circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Lahomaki shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Lahomaki showed some decent athleticism there.
Ferrari is looking to get back to is feet but Lahomaki passes into side control.
Ferrari wants to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lahomaki misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Lahomaki remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Ferrari has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Lahomaki off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

and Lahomaki counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ferrari lands with a kick to the temple. Lahomaki shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Lahomaki swats away the attempt to clinch by Ferrari.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Ferrari - that will leave a mark!
Lahomaki takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

and Lahomaki counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Ferrari!
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ferrari can do anything to dispel that myth.

Jaakko Lahomaki overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Lahomaki lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Ferrari hang on?

Ferrari takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Lahomaki lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Lahomaki can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Ferrari is looking to escape.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
