PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Chris Jacobs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Chesterman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jay Chesterman told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Chris Jacobs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jay Chesterman!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Yves DeLean and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chesterman stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Chesterman wants it to stay on the feet.
Chesterman shoots in for a double leg but Jacobs sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Chesterman avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Chesterman on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Jacobs. Jacobs obviously looking to wear him down.

and Chesterman counters by moving into the clinch.
Jacobs fails to pull guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chris Jacobs. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Chesterman tries to break free but Jacobs pushes him back against the cage.
Chesterman is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Jacobs keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Chesterman's efforts to push away.

Jacobs has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Chesterman is trying to keep an underhook but Jacobs manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Chesterman kicks off Jacobs and gets to his feet.

An elbow from Chesterman crashes against the mat.
Chesterman advances to mount.
Chesterman prevents Jacobs from getting the reversal.

Chesterman content just to control the position here.
Chesterman's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Jacobs throwing hammer fists to the chest of Chesterman. What's that going to do exactly?
Jacobs is trying desperately to improve position.
Jacobs tries to hold on but Chesterman pushes him away.

Chesterman stands up from mount. Strange move.
Chesterman throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Chesterman fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Chesterman looks gassed!
Jacobs misses with a takedown

and Chesterman counters with a shoot takedown. Jacobs fights it but they end up in guard.
Chesterman slips nicely into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Chesterman passes to side control.
Jacobs trying to control but Chesterman flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back!
Chesterman controlling from the back.
Jacobs turns into Chesterman and is now in his guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Chesterman is pulling down on Jacobs's head. It's preventing any offense from Jacobs, at least for the moment.
Chesterman bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Jacobs's guard.

Chesterman gets to his feet. Jacobs looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Chesterman doesn't manage to clinch there - Jacobs circles away.
Jacobs throws a nice looking combination but Chesterman bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

and Chesterman counters with a single leg into guard. Jacobs didn't expect that.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jay Chesterman dominated that round.

Jacobs lands a head kick. Chesterman smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Jacobs wants to clinch up but Chesterman keeps it at a distance.
Jacobs fails with the takedown

and Chesterman counters with a nice double leg into side control. Jacobs won't be happy with that.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jacobs tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Chesterman stands up.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Jacobs walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Chesterman checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Jacobs has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Chesterman doesn't manage to clinch there - Jacobs circles away.
Jacobs misses with a hook to the body

and Chesterman counters with a takedown into side control.
Chesterman takes a little break here. Jacobs wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Despite being in the dominant position, Jay Chesterman just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Chesterman throws a wild body kick that Jacobs sees coming a mile off.
Chris Jacobs seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Chesterman drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Chesterman controlling the position from side mount.
Jacobs is looking for a sweep.
Jacobs can't do much from the bottom here.

Jacobs tries to buck Chesterman off but Chesterman is having none of it.

Chesterman has hold of Jacobs's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Jacobs seems comfortable defending it but Chesterman has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Jacobs is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Jacobs is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Chesterman couldn't care less - he's delighted!
