PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Austin Talmage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frederick Xavier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Austin Talmage!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Frederick Xavier!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Eddie Farnsworth and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Talmage closes the distance and clinches.
Xavier is trying to force a seperation but Talmage has the dominant position.
Talmage is trying to drag Xavier to the mat but Xavier just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Xavier.
Talmage misses with a hook to the ribs.

Talmage gets control of Xavier's arms and successfully pulls guard. Talmage will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Xavier stands up from Talmage's guard - Xavier perhaps looking for a knockout.
Talmage tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Talmage shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Xavier pinned against the cage. Xavier gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Xavier.
Xavier wants to clinch but Talmage slips to the side
and Talmage counters with a head kick. That will keep Xavier thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

and Xavier counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Austin Talmage. That's going to take a lot out of him.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Talmage wants to stand but Xavier is controlling the position.
Xavier content to stall in guard here.
Xavier pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Talmage is keeping the position for now.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Talmage is on top in guard.
Xavier is trying to control the position but Talmage postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Xavier working a defensive guard here.
Xavier wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Talmage will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Xavier looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Talmage is defending well. Xavier quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Talmage has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Xavier celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Frederick Xavier!
