Kaustik has chosen "IMRSTBFYSRN" by Four Year Strong as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Shane Carwin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Matt Kaustik!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Dillan Fox and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carwin misses with a hook.

Carwin feints and as Kaustik raises his hands in defense, Carwin changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Carwin sitting in guard here, content to control.
Carwin wants to pass the guard but Kaustik is keeping the position.
Carwin is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Carwin pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Kaustik is keeping the position for now.

Carwin is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Kaustik is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Carwin thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Carwin misses with an uppercut.

Carwin shoots in and bounces Kaustik off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Carwin is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Carwin controls from within his opponent's guard.
Carwin stands up over Kaustik, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Kaustik wants to control the position but Carwin says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Carwin is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Kaustik wants to improve his position but Carwin is controlling well.
Carwin content to control rather than advance.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Carwin looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Kaustik!
Carwin takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Shane Carwin just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Kaustik tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Carwin throws the kick towards the body but Kaustik avoids it.

Carwin trying to control the position from guard on top but Kaustik is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Carwin slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Shane Carwin overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Kaustik looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Carwin is working Kaustik over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Kaustik is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Carwin is aware though and is defending well.
Kaustik is breathing heavily.
Carwin controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Carwin advances to half guard.
Kaustik is trying to maintain the position but Carwin is very close to passing his half guard.
Carwin slows the pace down in half guard.

Kaustik won't allow Carwin to pass to mount.
Carwin content to control rather than advance.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Shane Carwin just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

and Carwin decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Kaustik's guard.

Carwin goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Kaustik has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Carwin but great work by Kaustik.
Carwin is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Kaustik's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Carwin is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Kaustik's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Kaustik's back!
Carwin punishes Kaustik with strikes from the back mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Carwin just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
Carwin is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Carwin gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Carwin gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Carwin apologises and we restart here on the feet.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Matt Kaustik is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Kaustik avoids a kick to the body.
Carwin lands with an overhand left.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shane Carwin dominated that second round.
That's time! Carwin's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Carwin fires a straight punch through the middle that cracks Kaustik square on the jaw! Damn, Kaustik is out cold on his feet and topples face first to the canvas! Wow, I haven't seen a knockout that brutal in a long time!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Shane Carwin!
