The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

manuel shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. manuel showed some decent athleticism there.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Medeiros shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in manuel's guard.

Medeiros had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. manuel is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Medeiros Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take manuel's back instead.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Medeiros is pulling down on manuel's head. It's preventing any offense from manuel, at least for the moment.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Medeiros here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

manuel drops back, looking for a kneebar! Medeiros looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Medeiros looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Medeiros!

Medeiros seems to have locked his on tight now - manuel screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Medeiros, as he picks up the win!
