Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Volkman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fist Steelneck (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Volkman comes to the cage accompanied by Jesus Chorou. Fist Steelneck has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Johnny Volkman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Fist Steelneck!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Felipe Paraventi and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Steelneck gets a takedown into half guard.
Volkman trying to control but Steelneck postures up.
Steelneck moves into full mount! Volkman won't be happy about that!

Steelneck is working for a guillotine from mount but Volkman frees his head quite easily.

Steelneck with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Steelneck is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Volkman has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Volkman!

Steelneck has his foot on Volkman's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Volkman works his way back into a safe position though.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Volkman throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Steelneck works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Volkman has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Steelneck wants to sweep here but Volkman controlling him for the moment.
Volkman in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Volkman knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Steelneck on the ground.

Steelneck is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Steelneck keeping moving, preventing Volkman from controlling successfully.
Steelneck not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Volkman throwing strikes from guard but Steelneck blocks nicely.

Steelneck working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Volkman doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Volkman manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Steelneck bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Volkman's guard.
Steelneck won't allow Volkman to get back to his feet.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Steelneck is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Volkman is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Steelneck is aware though and is defending well.
Steelneck trying to control but Volkman is working from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Steelneck showing good wrestling skills to control the position.

Volkman is looking for a triangle but Steelneck pushes his legs off easily.

Volkman looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Volkman is breathing heavily.

Steelneck drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Steelneck jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Steelneck slips nicely into half guard.
Steelneck looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Volkman is not content to let Steelneck control the position.

Steelneck is working for a submission of some sort.
Volkman tries to kick Steelneck off but Steelneck keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Steelneck trying to control the action but Volkman is working from the bottom.
Steelneck prevents Volkman from standing back up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Steelneck is working for a submission of some sort.

Volkman looking for submissions off his back.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Steelneck closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Volkman to the mat! Volkman manages to get full guard.
Steelneck trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Volkman is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Steelneck wants to control from the top but Volkman keeps moving.

Steelneck avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Steelneck trying to control but Volkman is working from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fist Steelneck dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Volkman throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
A punch combination from Volkman misses.
Steelneck shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Volkman but Volkman pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Volkman shoots in looking for a takedown. Steelneck tries to sprawl out of it but Volkman keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Steelneck manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Steelneck looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Volkman!
Steelneck moves to the back.

Steelneck is working on the RNC. He looks like he's got it but Volkman won't tap... Oh, he's out! The ref rips Steelneck off his unconscious opponent!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:51 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Fist Steelneck!
