PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Joe FC (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Electric Feel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Feel has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joe FC!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Electric Feel!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Daniel Franklin and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
FC keeps Feel at a distance using the push kick.
Feel looks gassed!
Feel fails with the takedown.
Joe FC seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
FC scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Feel doesn't seem bothered though.
A jab lands there for FC.

FC takes the fight into the clinch.
FC has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Feel avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

FC turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
FC controls the position from side control.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Feel can do anything to dispel that myth.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
FC connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Feel some visible discomfort.
FC trying to control the position but Feel is working away.

FC stands up and beckons Feel to his feet.
FC moves into range and connects with a jab.
FC scores with a leg kick.
FC tries to clinch up.
FC lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
FC fails with a takedown attempt.
FC throws a right hand that Feel ducks under and follows up with a left that Feel also avoids with ease.

FC has Feel up against the cage in a clinch.
Feel prevents a takedown attempt there.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joe FC. That's going to take a lot out of him.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

FC breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
A combination from FC does no damage.
A nice leg kick lands there from FC.
FC throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Nice jab there from FC.
FC shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Feel sprawls well. Feel wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. FC gets slowly back to his feet.

Feel drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
FC has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Feel stopping the sweep attempt from FC.
Feel loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Feel won't allow FC to sweep him here.

FC is working an open guard so Feel takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Feel takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
FC tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Feel paws at him with a jab and circles away.

FC moves into the clinch.

FC escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Feel tries to clinch but fails miserably

and FC counters with a nice double leg into side control. Feel won't be happy with that.
Feel manages to get back to half guard.
FC wants to control but Feel is keeping him busy.
FC wants to pass the guard but Feel is defending well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
FC seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
FC throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Feel is trying to control but can't.
Feel on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Feel has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. FC is working away from the top position though.
Feel is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
FC swings and misses with a hook to the body.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

and Feel counters by moving into the clinch.
Feel gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from FC.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joe FC dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


FC throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Joe FC is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Feel shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and FC counters with a one-two to the body.
FC fails in his attempt to clinch.
Feel shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with FC but FC pushes him off and we're back to square one.
FC fails to land with a series of punches.
FC lands with a kick to the temple. Feel shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
A left and a right from FC both land. Nice combination.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
FC closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Feel shoots for a takedown but FC saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Joe FC has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Electric Feel.

FC drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Feel manages to get back to half guard.
FC lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Feel trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Feel wants to control but FC is having none of it.
FC can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Feel is looking to escape.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Feel really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
FC with a couple of short strikes.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Feel in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
FC lands a nice shot to the head.
FC looking to finish Feel with some ground and pound. This is bad for Feel!
FC avoids the attempt from Feel to control.
Feel can't escape the position.

FC with the ground and pound from mount.
FC avoids the attempt from Feel to control.
FC scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Feel is in a horrible position here. FC smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Feel tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Feel wants to control but FC is having none of it.
Feel is looking to improve his position but FC isn't that keen on the idea.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Feel is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
BOOM! FC connects with a massive shot to the dome!
FC raining down shots from the mount!
Feel keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joe FC dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

FC is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Feel wants to lay and pray for a moment but FC keeps working.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
FC manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Feel manages to get himself to full guard.
FC wants to get up but he can't break Feel's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

FC gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Feel fails with the takedown.
FC closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Joe FC is winning the standup battle so far.

FC gets a clinch.
FC looking for a takedown.
FC scores a nice knee to the body.

FC breaks the clinch.
Feel closes the distance but FC moves to the side
and FC counters with a three punch combo that has Feel backing up. Feel nods at FC to acknowledge the strikes.
Feel walks forward, straight into a front kick from FC.
FC closes the distance looking to clinch

so Feel counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
FC is trying to keep Feel in close.
Feel controlling from the top position.
FC keeping moving, preventing Feel from controlling successfully.
Feel being controlled here momentarily.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
FC fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
FC scores with a jab to the head.
FC has his takedown stuffed
enabling Feel to counter with a crisp jab.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
FC tries to close the distance and clinch up but Feel swats him away and circles back towards the center.
FC misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Feel.
Feel fails with the takedown
and FC counters with a flying knee. Nice.
The fight stays on the outside here - Feel looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
FC shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Feel defends it nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joe FC. That's going to take a lot out of him.

FC shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Feel manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Electric Feel has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Joe FC is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Feel escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. FC gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Electric Feel.
Well FC has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
