PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nigel Burkshire (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dylan Halford (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Burkshire's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, It's a Fight - Three 6 Mafia. Halford comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Changes kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Nigel Burkshire is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nigel Burkshire!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dylan Halford!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Halford tries to clinch up.
Halford should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
No luck for Burkshire with that takedown attempt.
Halford throws a one two combo.
Halford lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Halford swings for the body but Burkshire moves out of range.
Halford misses with the combination.
A head kick misses from Burkshire.
Burkshire uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Halford.
A bone on bone clash there as Burkshire blocks the leg kick.
Halford throws a big shot that misses.

Halford scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Burkshire manages to get back to half guard.
Halford missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Burkshire is trying is best to control the position here.

Burkshire kicks off Halford and gets to his feet.
Halford tries to clinch but Burkshire moves out of range.
Halford throws a nice looking combination but Burkshire bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Halford tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Halford lands a jab to the head.
Burkshire throws a body punch but Halford moves out of range.
A head kick by Halford misses

and Burkshire counters by clinching up.
Halford tries for a takedown but Burkshire manages to get underhooks.
Burkshire lands a body punch in the clinch.
Halford looks gassed!
Halford wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Burkshire turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Burkshire manages to end up in side control.
Burkshire scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Halford to see if he's OK.
Burkshire is looking to take a break and control but Halford is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Burkshire is trying to get an arm triangle but Halford is defending well.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Burkshire creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Burkshire scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Halford to see if he's OK.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Burkshire remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Burkshire tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Burkshire has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Burkshire is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Burkshire creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Burkshire cracks Halford with a big elbow.

Burkshire stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Burkshire rushes Halford and presses him up against the cage.

Burkshire has Halford pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Burkshire pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Halford tumbling to the mat - Burkshire dives into Halford's guard.
Burkshire has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Burkshire scoring with punches to the head and body.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Burkshire is working Halford over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nigel Burkshire dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Burkshire takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.


It looks like Dylan Halford has been cut.
Burkshire scores with a one two! Halford had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Burkshire with a jab.

Burkshire throws a left that rocks Halford and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Burkshire dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Halford regain composure!


Halford is rocked!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Burkshire advances nicely into full mount.
Halford is still in real trouble! Can Burkshire finish him?
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Burkshire cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!


That has opened up Dylan Halford's cut even more.
Burkshire landing punches.
Burkshire fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Halford wants to control but Burkshire is having none of it.
Halford seems to have recovered his senses.
Halford is breathing heavily.
Burkshire looking to control and managing it successfully.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Burkshire connects with a bit shot that sees Halford covering up! More strikes from Burkshire and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Burkshire is our winner by TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:27 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Nigel Burkshire!
