PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Randy Eik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and A C (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Randy Eik!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, A C!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Joseph Jones and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

C feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Eik is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Eik is working an open guard so C takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

C shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. C showed some decent athleticism there.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Eik wants to hold on but C pushes him away.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

C is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Eik might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Eik could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Eik is trying to shake C off. He's managed it and has hopped back to his feet! C won't be happy about giving up the dominant position.

Eik can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as C is looking to escape.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

A C showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Eik throws a nice looking combination but C bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Eik wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Eik has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. C is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

C tightens his grip and picks Eik up, before dumping him to the ground. Eik manages to land in guard.

Eik working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. C doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. C manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Eik wants to sweep but no luck.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Eik tries to clinch but fails miserably

so C counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Eik keeping moving, preventing C from controlling successfully.
C has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
C wants to get up but he can't break Eik's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Eik not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Randy Eik has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
A C is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

C got a little sloppy there for a moment and Eik has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, C has managed to get both his arms back between Eik's legs - danger averted.

And that's the end of the fight!
A C comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well C has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
